CNET Editors' review
Video technology is advancing by leaps and bounds, and it's no wonder that high-definition video is growing in popularity. The crystal-clear picture it provides is often stunningly life-like. Splash Lite is a sleek application that lets users view a variety of high-definition video formats that can't be handled by the average media player.
The program's interface is attractive and well-designed, with a menu that appears only when moused over. Using Splash Lite is as easy as using any other media player--the user simply opens the file they want to view, and Splash Lite plays it beautifully. The program supports a variety of video formats, including AVI, MKV, MOV, M2TS, MTS, M2T, MP4, MPG, TS, and also has options for handling subtitles and adjusting audio and video settings. Slash Lite can even be used with a TV tuner to view HD broadcast television. The program comes with a PDF Quick Start guide that is well-written and thorough, walking users through each of the program's features. Overall, we found Splash Lite quite easy to use, and we were impressed with the features and options that it offered. We think this program is a great choice for anyone who needs a simple way to view high-definition video files; beginners will appreciate its intuitive design, and more advanced users will find settings that allow them to customize their experience.
Splash Lite is free. The program installs a desktop icon without asking but uninstalls cleanly. We recommend this program to all users.

"Beautiful HD player."
Version: Splash Lite 1.6.1
Pros
Simple, lightweight player that works as advertised.
Light and responsive.
Easy to use settings.Cons
none so far
Summary
Been searching for a simple player that didn't make me feel like I screwed up my PC, changed my pc's settings, or forced me to suffer a bloated piece of glitchy and add riddled software.
Went through quite a few players and was surprised at what was and is considered a 'finished product' by some companies. Even the more expensive ones. Then again some of them still want paid version upgrades on a regular basis. Re-selling the paid customers, great.
But this software fits the bill perfectly. Going to use this for a little while to learn what it can and can not do, but judging by what I've seen so far and how clean this software feels, think I'll go Pro soon, and I'm sure it will be a pleasure. -
"Great Video Player"
Version: Splash Lite 1.6.1
Pros
Splash Lite is a great video player, i downloaded a video in 1080p and played it on my Splash Lite and the video looked amazing, it even made some of my older videos look better.
Cons
The options are on the light side, you would have to get the paid version of splash lite if you want to have more options for the player,
Summary
Splash Lite is a really nice HD video player, i would have liked to have access to more of the options that splash lite has, but you have to buy the paid version, but its still a really nice video player to have for running your HD videos

Pros
everything you expect from an HD player., and if you hate built-in subtitles, they disappear in splash.
Cons
no cons so far but it'd be great to add few more features and downgrade some pro features to lite ,
Summary
a stylish addition and looks/works amazingly for 7

"Splash has super clear picture quality but not without"
Version: Splash Lite 1.6.1
Pros
Its picture quality is for sure its biggest pro, it seriously has a much
higher quality picture than any other media play I use. (VLC, KMP,WMP,WMPC)
It supports basically all the main codecs that are used for HD video which is nice.
The GUICons
It would be nice if it had a open DVD or open blu-ray option when you click on the open function. The lack of a real fast-forward is somewhat silly, you can scan forward but not fast forward or rewind for that matter. Needs broader codec support.
Summary
Honestly for playing back HD content it has replaced VLC as my primary media player. VLC still offers many more extras though, such as more detailed playback options, such as filters, audio etc... But bottom line is that it has the best picture playback quality out of any other media player I currently use.

"The best HD video player for those with older computers"
Version: Splash Lite 1.6.1
Pros
Works with HD videos's on old computers, nice and easy to understand interface, very smooth, small size.
Cons
No thumbnail preview of AVCHD video files comes with this (or any other software I know of working on my computer.
Summary
I have tried many other more popular AVCHD video players on my computer -- UM player, Vegas Studio, AVS, etc. None would play my m2ts HD video files. Only Splash Lite works. I have a 3GHz CPU and 1GB RAM computer. Splash Lite Saves the day -- all others looking for the smoothest HD player around really should try this. It is my only option, and perhaps yours. I spent so much time trying to find one that works -- I'll remember not to just go with the most popular software next time or look for reviews from others with old computers only.
