CNET Editors' review
You can check the spelling of medical or legal words on Web pages or by using this toolbar, but this freebie has nothing else to offer.
Spellex Toolbar Spell Checker stretches a big toolbar across your Internet Explorer window, but the only real feature is a compact box to type in your word. The rest of the real estate is given over to links to other Spellex products and offers. Results are returned rapidly in a new window when you use the search field. You will also get a message that the word is spelled correctly or you'll get suggestions for the misspelled word. You'll also have the option of highlighting a word on a page to check its spelling, but instead of a new window it navigates away from your page to spellex.com. It was a bit annoying to have to navigate back to the original page. Also questionable is why you would need to check the spelling on someone else's Web page.
If you frequently need to make sure you've spelled medical and legal words correctly, this toolbar comes at no charge, and it's simple enough for anyone to use.
