There's no shortage of software designed to boost, tweak, or otherwise speed up sluggish PCs, enhance your computing security, and clean up your disks to advance both goals. Uniblue Systems' SpeedUpMyPC 2010 describes its mission in its name. It combines several tools in one interface, including a system scanner, RAM optimizer, memory cleaner, start-up manager, and CPU booster, all optimized for the latest versions of Windows.
SpeedUpMyPC's interface is typical of system-boosting utilities, simple and colorful with large, clearly labeled controls and prominent visual and text warnings of your unoptimized system's shortcomings. Scanning our system identified numerous "issues" slowing it down or compromising its security, everything from unnecessary services running to out-of-date drivers and full browser caches. You can also have it scan and clean your Registry, but, with all such utilities, we recommend caution in the Registry because of the potential for damage. Tools like SpeedUpMyPC can clear out the deadwood and speed up your system, as advertised, but they can be too easy to use, leading to problems if critical items get deleted unintentionally. Just be sure to be careful and follow instructions: there's a PDF-based Help manual to keep you on the straight and narrow and keep your PC humming.

They did refund my purchase price....very quickly, as a matter of fact, once I told them of the problems their program had created.

Worse than any worm, virus, or trojan horse I've encountered. Killed my computer.
AVOID THIS PROGRAM LIKE THE PLAGUE! Every IT Tech I have talked to since this fiasco has told me this program is a disaster. I just wish I had checked it out more thoroughly BEFORE I went ahead with the download.Summary
Here is a very short version of what I encountered. While their program was downloading, I noticed a popup warning that a sump.exe file was corrupt. I thought they had found a problem on my computer. When it was finished downloading, it told me I had 937 problems that needed fixing. I saw that I had the option of telling the program to undo anything it did, so I told it to proceed with the fixes. WELL! While it was "fixing" my computer, my monitor display went haywire! Fonts became unreadable, the display ran off all 4 sides of the monitor, functionality was gone and the computer slowed to a snail's pace (just to mention a few of the myriad problems I developed). When it was finished it told me it had performed 921 "fixes" for 937 problems, I went back to the UNDO button and clicked it. It then told me it had made NO changes, so there was nothing to undo.
I took my computer to an outside IT repair shop. When I mentioned the corrupted sump.exe file popup message I got, they literally laughed at me, and told me that was one of SpeedUpMyPC's files, so in essence, their own program was corrupted when they downloaded it. The bottom line....their corrupt program scrambled my Registry files, deleting some and rendering others non-functional, even though the program told me it had done nothing. After two days of trying to restore, I was told the damage was irreparable.I ended up having to go out and buy another computer... GREAT JOB, FELLOWS!! Not only did you NOT speed up my PC, you cost me an additional $400.00 trying to fix the problems you created, and another $1700 to buy a new system, since the problems you created could not BE fixed.
No wonder you have a disclaimer that your only liability is the price of your program!! -
"CPU Hog That Slows the PC"

I could find NO pros for this program.
Cons
This supposed Speed Up program hogged system resources, especially my CPU, slowing my computer greatly and causing me to do a hard reboot to work at all. I tried it for 3 days; things only got worse. This was on my backup computer, which is an older, somewhat slow 64-bit system running Windows Vista.
Summary
This is the worst program ever for improving system performance since it does exactly the opposite.
