Publisher's description
From Almico Software :SpeedFan monitors voltages, fan speeds, and temperatures in computers with hardware monitor chips. It can even access SMART information for hard disks that support this feature, and show hard-disk temperatures if that's supported. SpeedFan fully supports SCSI disks and can even change the FSB on some hardware (but this should be considered a bonus feature). At the lowest level, SpeedFan is a hardware monitor software that can access temperature sensors, but mainly it can control fan speeds (depending on the capabilities of your sensor chip and your hardware) according to the temperatures inside your PC, thus reducing noise and power consumption.
Version 4.25 adds Events and full support for new buses and chips.

Version: SpeedFan 4.25
Pros: This is I've been looking for at least 4 years. The only way I could check internal tempratures was in set-up,cmos/bios. Or spend $20.+ for a dashboard I don't have space for. But this little dingus tells me fan speed, proccessor temp, HD temp. and power supply voltage at glance, any time. And a lot more! I do not heat or cool office, so his is very important.
Cons: Some of these capabilities "may" depend on what your equipment supports. mine is a 2000 Soyo ,with athlon xp+,XP Pro,sp 1. has overclock feature, which could be a danger to novices. But still Great!

Version: SpeedFan 4.25
"Not a bad little tool for checking PC temps."
Pros: Simple interface and has quite a few options for fan speeds and CPU temp. A great program if you are concerned about your PC running hot and shutting down. This program is not for the novice and requires some intermediate to upperlevel knowledge of your computer. If your Hard drive is S.M.A.R.T. enabled it will allow you to check your HDD's performance and health.
If you have a feeling that your PC is overheating (running for a few hours and then turing off by itself)try this program if just for checking your normal operating temperatures. You might find that high temps could be your problem. Besides it FREE!! Try it if you don't like it uninstall it. It does not contain ANY spyware or adware. GOOD LUCK.
Cons: Not for the novice user. although the novice user can figure out how to use just the temperature setting to find out if thier PC is overheating. My Dell with
Pentium-4,80Gb HDD,2 Gigs RAM runs at about 80 Fahrenheit, 48 Celsius. Just as a guide for you to use.

Version: SpeedFan 4.25
Pros: You can do alot with this simple little freeware program, One of the coolest things is you can clock your system, takes a little bit of knowlege but its not all that hard to do. Besides the obvious, it does do what it says, tells you differnt comp temps and alows you to chage fan speed and voltage. The person who wrote the program seems to really care about feed back and has a pretty easy to use help menu. Best of all its 100% free!
Cons: The only thing that keepet me from giveing this a 5 star rateing is that im on a laptop, grated this program was made in mind for desktops, the only thing it really had a hard time with was finding my fan, other than that it works fine for laptops as well as desktops.
