This is a simple implementation of Speech Recognition & Speech Synthesis for REALbasic. It supports Speech Manager 1.5 or higher running on a PPC (including Mac OS X). Highlights include:

  • Use all the speech feedback functions to allow you to customize your speech responses.
  • Allows you to install speech help in the Speech Command window under Mac OS X which, up to this point, is an undocumented feature.

What's new in this version:

  • Added a property which returns the phoneme which is about to be spoken. This can be used to animate reading text for example.
  • Fixed an issue when running under REALbasic 5.5 which could lead to a crash among other oddness.
  • Updated sample project to incorporate phoneme support
