Publisher's description of SparkLock

From WebOdysseus:

SparkLock is privacy software that instantly locks your computer and hides your screen. If you are concerned about privacy and if you use a computer in an environment where others may see what's on the screen or use the computer when you turn back, then SparkLock is ideal for you. SparkLock is better than a regular session lock in Windows because you can easily lock the screen three ways: by a single keystroke, by moving the mouse pointer from screen side to side as if you were performing a screen wipe, and by an inactivity delay such as a screensaver.

When the system is locked with SparkLock nobody (even the system administrator) can use the computer without entering the password you have defined. All system control keys and processes are disabled. Unlocking the computer is fast, no mouse click and no Enter key. It is also safe because the password is blindly entered without any password field on the screen. If an incorrect password is entered you must wait five seconds and reenter.

  • "SparkLock"
  • Version reviewed: SparkLock 1.02
This application instantly locks your computer and hides your desktop, although regaining access to your PC may not be trouble-free for you. SparkLock's unsophisticated interface allows you to enable the PC lock by way of activation key, screensaver with per-minute time delays, or side-to-side swiping of your mouse. Following several tests, getting access to the desktop failed to work regularly. Upon lock out, a presidential seal is displayed, although in the registered version you can use any image you'd like. The mouse swipe feature worked in some instances but kept us barred from the system later. Entering the default password "spark" also did not consistently grant access into the system, requiring us to cut the power supply and reboot the machine. SparkLock's erratic performance will drive users to seek out a privacy-protection utility with more consistency.
