From High Mountain Software :SpamEater connects with your Internet service provider's mail server and checks each e-mail message it finds on the server. It compares the information in the message with a list of valid e-mail addresses and against an extensive listing of known spammers (more than 15,000 are included). If the e-mail address is one other than your accepted ones, or if a match is found against the list of known spammers, then the message is deleted from the mail server. You can then connect with the mail server using your e-mail client and download only the approved messages. SpamEater Pro notifies you when you have new, cleaned mail in your mailbox; it notifies you with a WAV file or a pop-up message, and it can even launch your mail client. You can configure SpamEater to check mail at predefined intervals and to start automatically when you log on to Windows. This release adds the ability to define the maximum size of messages to be downloaded, adds a counter to status bar showing the minutes until the next automatic check, and more
What's new in this version:
- The message header listing window (check/view) now retains custom window sizes, window position and column widths.
- The message archive window now retains custom column widths.
- Blacklist checks will no longer be done if the IP address to be checked is 127.0.0.1 (localhost). These addresses are used for testing with most blacklists and always return a positive response.
