Publisher's description
From LogSat Software :SpamFilter is used by ISPs and companies running their SMTP servers. It is designed to be a proxy to your incoming SMTP server receiving all e-mails addressed to your domain. If the sender's IP is not blacklisted in DNS-MAPS based black lists then the e-mail is forwarded to your SMTP server. Statistical Bayesian DNA fingerprinting, along with dozens of blacklist/white rules are also be applied to filter spam. RegEx (Regular Expressions) can be applied to almost any filter. An optional antivirus plugin is available. End users have Web access to their quarantined e-mails. They can view, delete, and force delivery of their own quarantined e-mail without having to ask the system administrators.
Version 2.6.3.473 adds support for SURBL filtering, honeypots, and per-domain filtering.

Version: Spam Filter ISP 2.6.3.473
"Selfcontained, highly configurable, constanly evolving"
Pros: it has basically everything you need to set it in your mail gateway, you name it, it has it. It has a LINUX type of approach, it does not put files in external directories, config and list files are in flat text. Can do quarantine in several types of DBs. Bayesian filter is quite effective. You can use an earlier version for free if you put up with the "Unlicensed" message at the SMTP connection. But the price is more then reasonable for any commercial organization. The programmer is very approachable and the support forum is great. Many suggested enhancements have been added, every month or so there is a new release with better and better features.
Cons: Inability to set direct feedback from email clients ("This email is spam!", "This email is NOT spam!" type) for the bayesian filter

Version: Spam Filter ISP 2.6.3.473
"Excellent product, top notch service"
Pros: Easy to setup and use, excellent price point, awesome support. They actually responded to an issue we were having that affected our CEO with a custom fix (programming involved) within 2 hours and then released the correction a little later. You can't beat that.
This product is constantly evolving, and generally directly from user input on their forum....direct user input to the developers and decision makers doesn't happen often, this is full circle customer support.
Cons: Web interface needs to be compiled into an updated package. Although updates and additions have been done by users and distributed it would be nice to have a new updated package from the developer.

Version: Spam Filter ISP 2.6.3.473
"Great Product, Works Well, very stable"
Pros: In July 2004, our company began to be bombarded by spam for reason yet to be determined. Our Watchguard fire boxx III was unable to keep up and maintain any degree of usefulness. I was faced with a dilema, block the spam at the firewall, or let all spma through and have my exchange server handle it. Well, I choose option 2) and with in hours my exchange server was bogged down. Also, the folder that keeps all undeliverable messages had in excess of 300,000 items. Yikes. I was stuck so I spent the night looking for a solution. I came across GFI which worked, but I found it required alot of over head. I then installed Spamfilter on an old PII, redirected all SMPT traffic to it from my fire wall, and setup a few basic rules for filtering. After about 2 hours, my exchange server sprng to life, no longer burdened by the spam it was filtering. I now Use Symantec Antivirus on the spamfilter box, which is cool because every email is scanned for viruses before it reaches my exchange server.
Cons: the large number of spam email I receive clogs up the Quarentine database. I have elected to just delete without quarentine

Version: Spam Filter ISP 2.6.3.473
Pros: Extremely easy to install, maintain and migrate. It is very customizable, blocking spam and viruses is extremely effective.
One huge plus is the fact that the developers are very willing to implement user ideas, and donot let you wait for ages on bugfixes.
One major reason for this company to purchase it was the excellent support given.
Cons: Because of all the rapid improvements and enhancements, the manual is not quite up-to-date. But it's ease of use more than compensates for that.
Another con: Why is my home ISP not using this?? :)
