"False Advertising!"
Version: SoundConverter 20120123.0
Pros
Apparently none!
Cons
This program does not convert .caf files as clearly stated in the advertisement for the download. Scam!

"Just doesn't work"
Version: SoundConverter 20101008
Pros
Promised to do what I wanted....
Cons
More expensive than quoted. Here says $14, app quotes $15, payment actually wants $19. Simply hangs when asked to process audio. Can't set temp file location.
Summary
I wanted this for processing big audio files, and from FLAC etc. So far if it hasn't hung when asked to process a large file, it reports errors saying that it can't understand the encoding used on files. After trying many files and file type transfers I now admit defeat that I just wasted my money.

"Sweet little app that delivers"
Version: SoundConverter 20101008
Pros
Easy to use, nice interface and does exactly what Steve claims. The cost is absolutely minimal, and upgrades and bug fixes come frequently as the products develops.
Cons
The only con i had, was that i couldn't use it to convert to to Mb4 - for ebooks. Contacted steve, it ewas added in an upgrade only a week or so later. So now, i have none.
Summary
My summary could easily be my comments on its Pro's. It really is so easy to use - drop and drag, it works well, it's cost is minimal. and there is good after sales service. I'm a pro audio engineer, I produce a weekly National Radio Program, have been involved in music playing and production since 1976, and, whilst i use a bag full of pro apps in my work, i do come back to this little baby when i want a quick convert from aif to mp3, and similar.

I can't believe how naive some users are. I have and continue to use this app regularly. It does its job well. I am a pro audio user producing national radio interview programs - and a muso. So among my plethora of fully pro gear sits this little app.
It is a simple drop and drag and will convert from and to, almost any format. Seriously, how do you expect small developers to continue without payment, especially in the face of the resources of the 'big boys'? As for being able to legitimately reinstall when you change machines, well it is possible to have such a system (such as BIAS), but again you need the resources to set it up and manage it. Way beyond the capabilities of small developers. Let's face it, we all know the software piracy is rampant - and when you have to pay through the nose (like with Adobe), you can understand how this encourages piracy. But, people will still avoid paying if they can and it is the small developers that suffer.
Get a grip on reality people. It is not a large cost, the program works well, the developer responds to issues and suggestions. It is made clear the conditions when you buy. Stop moaning and support your small developer or be prepared to really pay through the nose when they all get out because they can't compete with the resources of the big developeres.
And for the interest of the person that wrote 'only 1x feedback users that give this 5*'s - here are my 5 *'s and I am a long time mac user (since 1978), and provide feedback and reviews on multiple sites! -

The bastages who wrote this little utility tie it to a particular machine. Pay the price (even before you test it out to see if it will do what you hope it will) but, if you move it to another machine, you're done your dough. Must pay again for the new machine. Terrible policy. And it's got nothing to do with "Caliiornian law". Wonder how they stay in business.

"Great software, but sucky license policy"
Version: SoundConverter 20100701
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This guy lives in California and is subject to consumer licensing laws of that state. His site clearly says "if you don't like my license policy, don't buy my software". So, now that my copy of SoundConverter is dead due to moving to a new machine, I thinking he either owes me a refund for non-functional software OR he owes everyone who's been conned by this policy an refund.
Anyone willing to go to small claims court with me on this? If we have enough injuried parties, we could make a case against his sort of licensing scheme. -

"WARNING"
Version: SoundConverter 20080214
Summary

This App is far away of at the most beeing BETA. FLAC-to-AppleLossless conversions use an "own" TAG-standard so iTunes could not add CD-covers. What a shame the GUI is great and much better than MAX or SoundGrinder. DONT BUY!!!!!
