Version: Sound Forge 8.0b
Pros: I had only used Sound Forge 7 a few times, so I was a little worried this new one would be hard to use, not at all, mess around with it for an hour or so, get the hang of it and you should be fine. I do recommend if you are mastering cds, records, tapes to use an above average set of headphones. This will help you hear if you need to add anything or if you need to lower something that you have added.
Most of the software on this package is self-explanatory if you know anything about music. If not, you might want to check into getting one of the books that are available that explain what all the software does.
Cons: Price-$300, this is crazy. You can get Audacity for free and though not quite as good as this if you are a professional sound engineer, but if you are just wanting to do it for a hobby or to make your old cds and music collection sound better, Audacity is better for the difference in price alone. There are also several other, "clone" programs that are almost identical to Sound Forge that work just as good for 1/3 the price.
Overall, I can't fault the product, it works almost flawlessly, but at a price out of your pocket.
