Sound Forge is professional sound-editing software for Windows. It includes an extensive set of audio processes, tools, and effects for manipulating audio. Sound Forge can be combined with any Windows-compatible sound card to create, record, edit, and refine audio files. Previous updates added the ability to synchronize audio and video with frame accuracy, and support for RealAudio and RealVideo, Active Streaming Format (ASF), and Java (AU). They also included the Sonic Foundry Batch Converter and Spectrum Analysis plug-ins; and supports other plug-ins based on Microsoft's DirectX Streaming Services architecture.
Version 6.0 adds nondestructive audio editing, a DirectX plug-in manager, multithreaded background rendering, and support for Windows Media, QuickTime, and MPEG-1 & 2 video formats.

This demo version is save-disabled and imposes a 2-minute limit on recording and playback, as are the ripping and burning features for CDs.
