Editors' Review

This top-rated trial for one of the most popular solitaire programs around continues to improve. The 2008 version of SolSuite Solitaire adds another two original games, bringing the grand total to 480...for now. Expect to see even more new games in later releases. The excellent trial offers a free month of play (with three shuffles per game), and big solitaire fans will likely register before the 30 days are up.

The helpful interface lets you browse games grouped by type, time, difficulty, and skill level, or you can have the program choose a variation at random. SolSuite provides a glance at each game's rules, a difficulty rating, and a layout. Players can choose between different card sets and backgrounds, and they can even create their own solitaire games using the Rules Wizard.

Strategies, tips, and hints help beginners, and adepts will enjoy the robust statistics including graphs, 3D charts, tables, logs, and online high scores. You can always undo your moves and return to a good position. The suite supports multiple players, which is perfect for families and tournaments. A longtime editor and user favorite on CNET, SolSuite looks likely to further satisfy our solitaire cravings in 2007.

"Great game so so customer support"

    September 24, 2014   |   By gpc111

    Version: SolSuite Solitaire 2014 14.9

Top notch games. Second to none. Great graphics and nicely organized. There is no complaints about the games.

Customer support is lacking. The install routine is rude.and makes additions without asking permission.

When you purchase the game you receive one year of free updates. Version 14.9 was just released. To receive the up date you must send in a form to TreeCardGames: requesting the new activation code. 24 to 48 hours later you receive the code. If you don't request the code you are sent an email with the new code.... 3 to 4 weeks later. This may have been fine 20 years ago but in today's world of instant internet access this is unacceptable. When a request is sent there is no excuse to make customers wait 24 to 48 hours. TreeCardGames: must maintain a list of subscribers. How hard would it be to send the activation code to these people? They certainly don't have any trouble sending me their spam. And you will receive spam if you are a subscriber.

Now let's talk about the installation process. there is an item placed on your desktop and two menu items placed in your Start menu. All of this done without asking permission. How hard would it be to have the installer ask the user "would you like a desktop shortcut added... yes or no?" "Would you like some start menu items added... yes or no?" Then after the installation, it opens up your browser for no reason. Game installers do not need to open the browser. To it's credit, it does use your your default browser rather than force IE but that is a very small consolation.

All in all I love the games. My grievances may seem trivial to some but I have been a subscriber for nearly 10 years. I have written to customer support many times with my requests. They have not listened and nothing has changed in all the time I have subscribed. I would love to give this game a five star rating. but due to the issues I raised I have to knock off one star. I hope TreeCardGames: will read this and maybe take some action. Thank you.
