Snake Galaxy puts a new spin on classic "snake" games--a game-type that's been around almost as long as personal computers, and which has become near-ubiquitous on mobile devices. The core gameplay is what you'd expect: you control a snake that grows as it eats, and the snake dies when it finally runs into its own tail. But the Snake Galaxy interface adds some fun and innovative twists: instead of a 2D game board, you travel around spherical, 3D "planets," and the snake travels towards wherever you touch your finger--which will probably have you switching between using two thumbs (for a crude right-or-left) and a single finger for more precise maneuvers.
Each "food ration" that you eat increases a score multiplier on a timer, so you need to get to the next ration as quickly as possible to rack up points--even though you might not be able to see the ration at first, if it's on the other side of the planet. Big multipliers help you get onto each level's high-score board, which then unlocks subsequent planets. The game currently has five levels, each with a distinct personality (even a denim planet where you have to almost literally thread a needle). With its bouncy, fast-paced music and fanciful, photorealistic graphics, Snake Galaxy packs a lot of fun and replay value into a low-priced, deceptively simple package.
