From SmartSync Software :SmartSync Pro is a universal tool to back up and synchronize your important data to the same drive, different drive, removable ZIP/JAZ/CD-RW drive, network volume, or even remote computer. To make the application automatically copy new and modified files to some destination, you just need to set up the profile using the wizard just once. Obsolete files will be also removed when they are not needed. If source data is destroyed or lost, it can be recovered with one mouse click. SmartSync Pro can work in two modes: local backup/synchronization is used to replicate important files to another easily accessible place, to save files to a ZIP archive, to make compressed incremental backups and to synchronize two or more folders. Remote Synchronization is the unique feature that lets you synchronize files and folders when computers can't be connected via a local network.
Version 2.10.0.822 has minor bug fixes.

Pros: I have tried several packages to try to sync files on my PC to my space on the our LAN that is backed up. Simply, SmartSync is by far the best. 1. good documentation in plain english. Explainations aren't too wordy, but get the point across. 2. more types sync options than the other programs I've used. 3. has other nice touches, like sending an email upon successful completion. 4. CAN ACT AS A W2000/NT/XP SERVICE! you don't have to be logged even. 5. easy interface. 6. cost is $35, I wouldn't have paid $100, $35 is about right.

"makes backing up files to another drive simple and intuitive"
Pros: in about 15 minutes, i set up a profile to copy important data to a second drive. i like that you don't have to use a single large backup file as MS's backup tool does.

"Fantastic product -- Highly recommended"
Pros: I tried out over a dozen synching programs before I ended up using Smartsync Pro. This was the ONLY program I found that had all the features I was looking for, yet was still very intuitive to learn and use. It has straight forward approach that makes it more user friendly than it's competition, yet it is deceptively powerful and feature rich. The other apps either had a workflow that I found annoyingly complicated, or they were too simple to offer all the features I needed. One of the aspects of Smartsync Pro that really shines is the orginizational feature set, offering things like shortcut creation for instant ""double click"" syncs, and nested profile ""grouping"" allowing a great degree of customization in workflow. Other apps offer ""some"" of these features, but none offers them all like Smartsync Pro. The more I used this program, the more powerful I discovered it to be. On top of all this, the support for this product is outstanding. I emailed tech support about a few bugs I discovered early on, and they were taken care of in record time. They worked with me via email in ironing out the issues, and in at least one case, a new version (with the bug fixed) was made available to me less than 24 hours after I reported the problem -- that's what I call responsive. I've never had a better tech support experience. The bottom line: The makers of Smartsync Pro managed to create an application that matched or beat other apps in terms of ease-of-use, yet surpassed them in features -- I found it to truly be the best of both worlds.
