Although it won't change your life, SmartGenie makes a decent Web-surfing companion. Similar to most toolbars, this application's two most useful tools are its Web search box and its pop-up blocker, though you'll also find buttons for quickly getting headlines, sports scores, and business news. By default, the toolbar is quite cluttered, but you can remove any buttons you won't regularly use. The program lets you decide what sites are used for certain information. For example, you might choose to have Google as your primary search engine, while Yahoo delivers your news. However, you can't search the Net with multiple engines at once, and SmartGenie annoyingly hijacks a portion of your browser window after obtaining search results. In addition, you'll also find a dictionary, a translation tool, and a feature for quickly finding hotels and flights. The pop-up blocker turned out to be a mixed bag. It turned away most normal ads we threw its way, but doesn't notify you with a sound or blinking icon, although you can consult the log file for answers. If you haven't already fallen in love with a particular toolbar, you may want to give this free offering a shot.

"I have never seen a more complete toolbar on the net"

Summary
All the features offered overwhelmed me. I found the basic features like search/rank/site info and popup blocker but this toolbar is more complete. You can zoom in and out of a page, my login info could be stored, and I can tell you what time it is in NY or Paris in a second. It�s worth it for the search option alone. I could search auction, flight, hotels, maps, stocks and the yellow pages all with one toolbar. Very useful.
