This multipurpose program not only converts graphic files, but it has more than 100 image effects, a rich toolset, and a tremendously time-saving batch processor. Batch mode lets you do several operations at one pass, such as resizing, converting the format, renaming, and adding captions. What's more, you can save the sequence of operations and apply them to future batches. Smart Converter has a good set of editing capabilities (the Magic Wand tool automatically selects objects), which, combined with handy controls, lets you easily create simple collages. The filter browser with previewing allows you to quickly try several effects. The program can take screenshots of separate windows and display areas, but it can't make several shots in a row. One major drawback is that the interface doesn't let you sort images by folders. Also, the slide-show function lacks a full-screen mode. Although Smart Converter isn't tops for sorting and organizing images, the package works well for processing and editing batches of photos and provides a cheaper alternative to large graphics packages. Webmasters particularly will appreciate the color-picker and the Save for Web option, which balances quality and size.Publisher's description

Version: Smart Converter 1.9.22
Pros: Clean Interface, Many Options, Easy To Use...
Cons: Not a BAD program but does ALOT of things and not VERY great at any of them, so JACK OF ALL TRADES BUT MASTER OF NONE... The WORST part is that this program is IDENTICAL to "Advanced Batch Converter" so it seems someone defected from one company and started a rival firm. Sadly, the interfaces are IDENTICAL, options are IDENTICAL, even the PROBLEMS are IDENTICAL... How sad is that where you CLONE someone else's software but do not even bother IMPROVING it or making it look ANY DIFFERENT... Anyway, this program seems solid and has ALOT of options but we will just take a snapshot of ONE EXAMPLE. ICONS are NOT handled properly and you cannot save multiple icon dimensions into one ICON file, like 16X16, 32X32, etc. Worse, it does NOT handle transparencies correctly and forget about supporting Windows VISTA icons let alone Windows XP icons. Stay away from BOTH programs unless you have NO CHOICE because I HATE COPYCATS...

Version: Smart Converter 1.9.22
Cons: This program is terrible for working with EPS files. It has significant bugs which make it totally useless. It cannot load the .eps files it has created, and when it converts to .eps it saves the image incorrectly. The supposed technical support help is nonexistant. Any promises the company makes about responding to inquiries are lies. They have yet to respond to my questions. It is closing on a month.
