Getting in touch with friends and family is easy with this Internet telephone software, but the functionality is conditional. Skype offers a graphically pleasing interface that's much like a chat program. To make calls, you'll need to create a contact list of friends and family or use the phone-like interface to dial people directly. You also can access a pull-down menu for painless conference calls of up to four people. To make free calls, both parties will need to have the Skype software installed. To call regular phones, you'll need to sign up for a plan with SkypeOut, the developer's paid service that offers cheap by-the-minute calling. We like the intuitive chat-like interface of Skype and we were surprised at the excellent sound quality, even with regular desktop speakers. Similar to a chat client, you can set your availability status, but we also would like to see a missed call indicator or, better yet, some form of voice mail. Overall, we think Skype is a strong contender in the Internet Telephony category, and anyone who's interested in talking for free should give it a try. For international callers who have computers, this program is a no-brainer solution for long-distance bills. Watch the CNET video review of Skype:

Pros: The best free online talking tool!
Im using broadband, used it talk with my brother who was living in oversea, know what? I cant believe it the voice transfering even faster than compared with someone who use an IDD card to calling me from oversea to my house phone. It just like on the phone with someone, and the volume quality great! What i can say more about? It's free!!!
Cons: If using dial up, it uses much speed of ur connection. what i can suggest is..if running skype talking with ur relatives/friends do not browsing or on other messenger or maybe some chat programs.

Pros: It has a bad IM. It Has a sloppy Voice.
Cons: welll to start the minimum internet connection i would suggest is 300k at least... the voice is scratchy you cant head very much and well the IM is a piece of junk.... i suggest using Yahoo IM, or MSN.... cause well they have both great IM's... and great VoIP's.

Pros: The biggest and most obvious Pro is that you can make free phone calls, I love this program. Works very well if you have a fast connection.
Cons: Won't work very well if you dont have a fast connection as the messages will brake up.
