Simply Safe Backup has been written as a replacement for other Windows backup products including the one that comes with Windows for the following reasons:
- Other backup products do not offer you strong encryption techniques to keep your data protected, only a password and compression.
- If you choose to write your backup to a hard disc, you cannot split the data files up so you can burn them or move them later.
- You cannot send your backup to a remote server. Simply Safe Backup will let you specify an FTP server to send your backup to. It will send each volume of your backup, as it completes that volume, saving you disk space, so you do not have to double the amount of disk space needed during the backup.
- Backup to fully qualified UNC path names.
- The restore process is friendlier than other products. The restore process has been optimized for selective restores so it can go to specific files quickly, and find them, and restore them.
- You cannot write a single backup job to backup unique data. With other backup programs you can do incremental backups and such, but this program will allow you to specify a window of time. For example, you can say, Backup all files changed and modified in the last 72 hours, or 2 weeks, or 1 day, or 12 hours. You can have a continual window of backup.
- Also, you can tell it to append the date and time to the file name, so you never write over the same backup.

"it takes too much space to back up my files that my computer simply does not have"

back up is a very good idea, however, back up perhaps means double up that my computer simply cannot do it, in term of the space of my computer.

This little jewel is sooo sweet! It allowed me to store 1366 tracks I ripped from my cd collection onto ONE DVD+R with 80mb to spare! It tells you how many CD's or DVDs it will take to store what you want backed up!
Use this program with Duplicate Cleaner and Media Monkey and you have the best music (or photos and file) manager there is. All for free.
Thanks so much for taking the time to create this wonderful tool.

I only used this software to back up my ripping directory. It offers the exact, simple features I wanted for compressing and backing up my music collection.

has some cool functionality but its missing alot. Ultimately, the reason i scrapped it was because it doesnt give the option to back up without compression. its one more way my files can become corrupt. Unfortunately, i think you have to buy something. i did. also it leave annoying dir's on the root of both folders.

Actually, this software is fast and if working, it's quite good. You can read some messages which will alert you that the software may not be perfect. After i used the software i think it was a good idea (but maybe a checkbox would be nice). It's the free version and it should work with mysql databases (which i couldn't test cause of connection errors, but this can be personal problem). The uninstaller is fast.

update.exe xxx data/0 bytes. I guess it should show some numbers instead of the zero. Also, important informations installer window is empty.
It shouldn't go to check updates right at start, unless i decided to do so.
The "thanks for using" window's text have missing words (after first update).
The update is not efficent: too big downloads!
2005.0.1.730 told me there's a new version, however, this version remains the same. 06-13-2005 update is the only message, quite annoying, it can be an updater bug.
License Agreement is about 2004, even if installer got 2005.0.
I couldn't stop duplicate file finder after i've clicked the Run now... button. It's also a bugy thing, cause building file list for c:\directory\.\.\... and so on ..\. isn't a wise choice (and it will eat up your memory).
The software itself can't see directories, which are hidden (by the operating system). To backup the outlook .dbx mailboxes, i must first create an access to directory as i can't type in the full path, which would make my work easier.
I'm not quite sure that the ftp authorize process works well, i would need someone else opinion on this (this can be a personal experience).
The start menu hasn't got uninstaller link, too bad.

The demo looked OK

Website says the company will deliver the code to unlock the program in 48 hours. Nothing received after 4 days, e-mails not answered. Fortunately PayPal refunded the $39 I spent on this. There are better programs out there for back up, such as Acronis for Drive Image XML.

Tried to tape backup on a ST20000A seagate drive. Couldn't write a file. Tried to backup over a network... Couldn't write file.
