CNET Editors' review
A good screen capture tool is pretty much an essential Windows accessory, and Microsoft's built-in Snipping Tool does a pretty good job, though it's a bit basic and also awkward to use at times. Capture View from GXDevelopment is indeed a good screen capture tool that can also capture directory contents, menus, pop-ups, and even running applications whether they're shown, hidden, or minimized. It has some useful extras, such as a timer delay feature and a suite of frequently used image-editing tools like cropping, resizing, and watermarking tools and grayscale conversion. To top it off, it's free.
We installed Capture View and clicked its desktop shortcut. The program opened with a Windows-style interface with a transparent main view, showing what was behind it, and an Aero-style toolbar with a mixed suite of unique icons and drop-down file menus. We dragged the boundary of the Capture View window over our desktop background picture and clicked Capture, which triggered a camera shutter sound. We saved the image to the desktop and opened it: a perfect copy of the capture field. Next we clicked Type/Desktop Capture and clicked Capture again. The program captured our entire wide-screen desktop, not just the visible portion. Next we clicked Application Capture, chose Normal Method (you can specify methods, too) and selected our Outlook Inbox from a drop-down list of running applications. Capture View recorded an image of our entire Inbox, even though Outlook was minimized to the desktop; that's pretty cool, and something the Snipping Tool can't do. Capture View's Directory Capture setting took a snapshot of a directory without opening it, too. The transparency and color options worked well, and having basic image-editing tools instantly accessible through the toolbar saves tons of time over opening an outside photo editor or graphics tool.
Capture View is the most versatile and capable screen capture tool we've ever used. The fact that it's free makes it a no-brainer; it blows the competition off the screen.

"This is the Best Screen Capture I have ever used"
Version: Shortcut to ScreenCapture.exe 4.8.2
Pros
Simply the Best , it is very easy to use and it takes a perfect picture.
This is a Great piece of software.Cons
NONE AT ALL
Summary
I've tried a lot of these screen capture programs and most work pretty well.
Some are tougher to master but most work OK.
What seperates this Software is that it takes a perfectly clear picture which some others don't.
I'm talking about snapping a picture of a person who is on a Cam , that's where most of the others come up a little short ,
the pictures are never sharp and clear , there's alway flaws in the finished product.
Not the Case with this product , it takes perfect pictures .
I've tried a lot of these and this one is easily the best . I say if you want a Screen Capture progran you can't do better than this one. -

"Good Product"
Version: Shortcut to ScreenCapture.exe 4.8.2
Pros
Ability to capture wanted portions of screen
Cons
Could use a text file addition for first time users. `
Summary
Need explanation of functions and their uses. I'm not all that good at guessing what the programmer had in mind for the various buttons to do. Help file not all that helpful. Hard to come up with the right question to solve problem.

"Great Program"
Version: Shortcut to ScreenCapture.exe 4.8.2
Pros
You really need to use it to understand how useful it is. I have used a certain popular screen capture software for sometime, but if I had known about Capture View I would never have bought it. Save yourself some money. You can't beat FREE.
Cons
Not much. Needs mark up capability.
Summary
I am surprised that this software is free.

"This is a really cool piece of software"
Version: Shortcut to ScreenCapture.exe 4.8.2
Pros
Captures most everything that other paid software does.
The previous poster was incorrect. Capture View puts all captures on the clipboard either as an image, or as a file. Images with alpha values (transparency) have to be a file.Cons
Missing a few useful "extra" features, but these are really unnecessary.
Summary
This is a really cool software package. It is used EXTENSIVELY at our work place and is considered to be indispensable. It easily captures what you want and arranges your captures conveniently on a slide strip. The added ability to make the back ground white or transparent helps a lot while making power point presentations. Standard captures that do not use transparency are placed on the clipboard for easy access. Captures or edits that use the trasparency alpha channel are put in the clipboard as a file. Either method allows you to easily paste the image into power point from the clipboard. Apparently the clipboard cannot handle transparent images. This is why it has to be a file.
Overall, we love this program. -
"Does not capture to clipboard"
Version: Shortcut to ScreenCapture.exe 4.8.2
Pros
Not much to like
Cons
I need it to capture to clipboard, not a file to save then import.
Summary
Only to capture to a file, not clipboard.
