"Crashes more than any other software I've ever used"

December 19, 2014  |  By falconsdream

 |  Version: Adobe Flash Player 16.0.0.235

Pros

When it works, it does what it's supposed to do as a minimal functionality embedded video player.

Cons

Adobe Flash crashes more than any other commercial software (not a small freeware/shareware app) I have now or have ever had. It crashes at least once a day on both Firefox (my primary browser) and Chrome (secondary), and sometimes crashes as many as 10x in just a few hours if I'm working in a lot of windows with extensive Flash, which I do often in my research work. I used to think it was a memory limitation on my duo core 32 bit Win7 PC with only 3.3 GB of usable memory (4GB installed). But it still does it on my 64 bit Win 8.1 laptop with 8 GB of usable memory, and much less software on it that could be competing for memory. I found that if I rolled my Flash version way back to 10.xx, it stopped crashing. Then Firefox started blocking add-ons that have security vulnerabilities, so I couldn't use Flash at all anymore without upgrading to the latest version. Of course, when I upgrade to later versions of Flash it's back to constantly crashing again - seriously limits my productivity!!

Summary

I HATE Adobe Flash Player more than any other software - arghh, it drives me crazy! If there was any way around it without limiting my web use in any way, I would jump on it in a heartbeat. I can hardly wait until everyone replaces their sites' Flash video plugin with HTML5!!!

The fact that it's also one of the biggest security threats on my computer just compounds my intense dislike for this sorry excuse for a software app. Adobe has completely missed the boat on this one and amazingly, just keeps making it worse! Is there something about the Seattle area climate or culture that causes poor software design and reliability but doesn't stifle marketing dominance and monopolistic business practices?

"Malicious damaging software"

November 24, 2014  |  By I like Huitica

 |  Version: Adobe Flash Player 15.0.0.223

Pros

No positive function

Cons

Will install LSO cookies(multiple) on your hard drive, stealing all available data and sending it to adobe(my security software caught this and banned it from accessing the internet)

Summary

I will be sending thoughts of misfortune and mayhem to adobe personnel, their friends, families and possessions(house, car, etc.)

Updated on Nov 24, 2014

It appears the main function of adobe software is to gather information and send it to adobe. The player will actually change values of your bootloader allowing it to add other software and phone home at random times. This is the case with ALL adobe software. The reason for the crashes is the alteration of the bootloader and phone home occurrences.

"Controls not reliable, can't identify video sources"

July 23, 2014  |  By Bill_Levinson

 |  Version: Adobe Flash Player 14.0.0.145

Pros

Plays interactive content; probably indispensable

Cons

Does not always respond to user commands.

Right-clicking does not identify the source of unwanted content, which means unwanted content cannot be banned with parental or similar controls. Business IT departments may similarly be unable to ban unwanted video sources.

Summary

The problems show a relatively low level of pride in Adobe's workmanship. Even though this product is free, it does reflect on the company.

"Adobe needs to allow access for Kindle Fire!"

May 28, 2014  |  By Christiangirl177

 |  Version: Adobe Flash Player 13.0.0.214

Pros

None that I could think of!

Cons

Not available for the Kindle Fire system nor the Android based tablets! Adobe needs to allow us to have access to their Flash Player. I am very disappointed with this company right now! I really don't have anything positive to say about Adobe right now. Hopefully, they'll rectify this situation.

Summary

Adobe needs to see what people are saying about their product, not that it would matter to them.

"BEWARE & CAREFUL or Adobe Flash will install Chrome and"

May 01, 2014  |  By musicman4you

 |  Version: Adobe Flash Player 13.0.0.206

Pros

None but you need it for sites like YouTube

Cons

BEWARE & be CAREFUL or Adobe Flash update will install Chrome and Mcafee Scanner on your compter.I found out the hard way last night. This is not Comodo icedragons fault but when it told me to update the newest Flash from Adobe I did on the page it gave me and I seen it installing Google Chrome.I closed it down before it could install. Then I tried again and it installed the Mcafee Security Scanner on my PC so fast I couldn't stop it.I had to clean a lot of crap off of my PC thanks to Adobe Flash and there new tricky programs they add.If you update Flash you better look real close on that page so you don't get Chrome and Mcafee.Adobe has stooped to a new low with the sneaky, dirty little tactics to install Chrome and Mcafee on your computer.

Summary

I seen on google were IT professionals and people that work on computers also didn't see the well hidden options of other programs now in Adobe Flash. It put the Mcafee Scanner in C:\DOCUME~1\MyName\LOCALS~1\Temp\ContentDATs.exe So I just took all night and removed the Mcafee stuff from hidden Folders & other places on my PC.Icedragon had many left overs also that registry cleaners could not find. Many including Mcafee were in hidden folders and files.I had to go through the computer and clean all of this stuff up myself and from Registry. There is even a YouTube video showing how Adobe installs this with the Flash Update.Just google Adobe Flash adds Chrome and Mcafee.I don't trust Adobe and use another PDF reader instead of the Adobe one.Be careful upgrading Flash.
