Although this program provides a plethora of tools for restricting access to just about every corner of your computer, a large security hole keeps us from being more excited. Security Administrator's treelike interface makes it clear how to configure all aspects of the program and set up permissions for all persons who regularly use your machine. After password-protecting the program, you'll appreciate the ability to prohibit access to the entire computer, areas of the network, certain keys, the Internet, and system areas, such as the Start menu and Recycle Bin. Our sole complaint about this program's features is the list of third-party applications you can lock down is limited to Microsoft offerings, such as Office and Outlook. As previously mentioned, other users will need your password if they want to disable Security Administrator via the desktop icon or Control Panel. Unfortunately, we were able to easily remove the program by drilling into the appropriate folder in our PC's hard drive, a flaw we find tough to overlook. On all other counts, Security Administrator is a powerful tool, but it won't provide much protection from more resourceful users.
