Despite a few flaws, this straightforward application lets you easily create secure archives of your important files. Secura Archiver uses Blowfish encryption to safeguard your files, and its simple icons and menu options are easy enough for a novice to use. You can archive any group of files and apply a password of your own making, or use the built-in tool to generate a 26-character, alphanumeric key. Files can simultaneously be compressed to save disk space. We were surprised to find, however, that you can't password-protect the program. Though archives require input of a password to open, the program also offers the Key Manager to store and generate keys, and this feature isn't password-protected. Keys can easily be revealed by deselecting the Hide Key check box found on the Properties page for individual keys. Novice users will appreciate Secura Archiver's user-friendly approach to safely storing files, but we suspect more advanced users won't be as impressed.
