From mizog.com :Files can remain on your Mac even after they have been deleted or moved to the trash. Indeed using techniques like magnetic force microscopy data can be retrieved even after your drive has been formatted.
The only sure way to delete files and clean up your free disk space ( where files previously moved to the trash may still lie ) is to overwrite them many times using well-known bit patterns so that they can never be recovered.
Using advanced techniques SecretShredder will clean your drive so that data never comes back.
Just drag files onto the dock icon. Or type apple T to shred the trash, it's that simple.

Version: SecretShredder 0.4.2
"Software unzips with errors. Company does not respond to email requesting help."
Pros: none
Cons: After I purchased the software, the file will not unzip correctly and will not run. Over a month, I sent 3 emails to the company requesting help; there has been no reply. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Version: SecretShredder 0.4.2
"Best Mac shredder I've found overall"
Pros: I use shreddit in work on my PC but have secretshredder at home on my iMac. Overall I prefer secretshredder as it seems simpler to use than shreddit. The thing I really find useful is that when I close Safari it automatically pops up and offers to shred my temporary internet files. If you share your mac with other friends/family then this can be a good idea. The file shredding was free in the trial version but I had to register to get the browser and disk shredding, which IMO are the best features. Another good thing is that this program is a really small download (only 250K or something) compared to the others which are a couple of MBs.
Cons: I think they could have made better shredder icon for the dock, but no other issues.
