The program provides standard functionality for backing up and synchronizing your data. Like many similar applications, Second Copy is based on profiles that store information about what files to back up, where and when to do so, and so on.
The program can back up 25 versions of the same file, handy for those users who routinely make a lot of changes. All you have to do to create a new profile is modify a similar one. You can group numerous profiles and run backups automatically in the background. For more advanced users, the program offers FTP support, command-line options, and macros.
Its otherwise handy and clear interface would gain from integrating dialog and option windows in the common shell, but what it really lacks is a tree view for profiles. However, Second Copy's functionality and price are adequate for both small-business and home users, especially those comfortable with technology.
Publisher's description
From Centered Systems :Second Copy automatically copies files and folders from one location to another on the local drives, across the network, or to removable drives such as USB, CD-RW/DVD, or on network storage devices. It works in the background. Simply tell Second Copy, which files to copy, where and when to copy them, and forget about it. Its easy-to-use setup wizard helps to define 'profiles' that describe the source and the destination location, and the frequency at which to copy the files. It monitors the source files and automatically copies the new or changed files to the destination. It can compress and encrypt the files using the built-in compression utility. Automatic scheduling includes specific days of the week, hours of the day, or any desired time intervals. New features include 256-bit AES encryption, FTP support, e-mail notification, and support to run as a service, PKZip compatible compression, two-way file synchronization, and the ability to archive up to 25 old versions of files.

Version: Second Copy 7.1.0.1
"Excellent, simple and most efficient."
Pros: I have tried 4 backup softwares, including some very famous ones (big brand, also involved in removables disk medias ...) and none performed well. The only one which accepted 'long Windows names' was Second Copy. Others either did not start or copied nothing or reported 'errors' all over the place. Second Copy is the only one which I found out to be fast, efficient and 'no nonsense'. Very versatile also. Easy to parameter.
Their support is an example of how all support should be: answers within hours, accurate and giving the explanation of what went wrong as welle as giving the proper solution. I sent my logs and Log reports and they dived in it for my success. Congratulations. I rate it 5 stars.
Cons: I had some trouble starting since it seems that XP reinitialized the option needed and used to copy all files on the first time. So their support which was really excellent, competent and no 'lip service', finally found out and now it runs beautifully.

Version: Second Copy 7.1.0.1
"Nice, simple and flexible, but with problems for some"
Pros: In general, this is a nice simple backup program which is sufficiently flexible to perform most copy, move, compress, replace and synchronization tasks, at any specified time.
Cons: It can't back up open files. However, I have just come across another more serious problem for those using filenames with non-alphanumeric characters e.g. Korean and presumably Japanese, Chinese, Thai etc. characters. Second Copy will not back up such files, which means that the program is useless for more than half the world's population!

Version: Second Copy 7.1.0.1
"A good file copy/backup product."
Pros: A simple program that does the job of backing up or copying files or folders. Can copy each file to a password-protected zip file. Runs on Vista 64-bit!

Version: Second Copy 7.1.0.1
Pros: Its ability to "sync" two locations are outstanding - I use for keeping a identical computer up2date
Cons: The log files gets really large, and the viewer loads everything in memory - bad for performance :-(
