The program provides standard functionality for backing up and synchronizing your data. Like many similar applications, Second Copy is based on profiles that store information about what files to back up, where and when to do so, and so on.
The program can back up 25 versions of the same file, handy for those users who routinely make a lot of changes. All you have to do to create a new profile is modify a similar one. You can group numerous profiles and run backups automatically in the background. For more advanced users, the program offers FTP support, command-line options, and macros.
Its otherwise handy and clear interface would gain from integrating dialog and option windows in the common shell, but what it really lacks is a tree view for profiles. However, Second Copy's functionality and price are adequate for both small-business and home users, especially those comfortable with technology.
Publisher's description
From Centered Systems :This major upgrade to Second Copy 97 adds many new features. Second Copy 2000 copies files and folders from one location to another on the same drive, another drive, or across the network. You can set up profiles that describe the source location, the destination location, and the frequency at which you want to copy the files. Second Copy monitors the source files for changes or additions, then automatically copies the new or changed files to their designated destinations. The program uses the familiar Windows Explorer interface. It has an easy-to-use setup profile wizard that makes configuration jobs a snap.

Version: Second Copy 2000 6.2
"Fatastic backup software - still the best year after year!"
Pros: Extremely easy to setup. It's very reliable, and works truely in the background on all versions of Windows. Tech support is accurate and fast.
Cons: None can think of. No changes needed.

Version: Second Copy 2000 6.2
"Elegant, simple, and works like a charm."
Pros: Intuitive to use, works very well, flexible to set up. No bugs, and Support is always reliable and quick. Best value for money in any software I have ever bought.
Cons: No cons. Apart from some minor (very personal) useability changes to icons and menus, I wouldn't change a thing. Doesn't need any fixing.

Version: Second Copy 2000 6.2
Pros: Second Copy performs as advertised. It is easy to install and configure and runs seamlessly in the background.
The tech support is outstanding. I get my questions answered in a timely manner - what a relief compared to other experiences I've had!
Cons: This is minor but I'd like to have the ability to run backups at shutdown only on specific days.

Version: Second Copy 2000 6.2
Pros: I have been running Second Copy for a couple of years now and I have to tell ya.

Version: Second Copy 2000 6.2
"Easy to use, no Backup Catalog mystery archiving."
Pros: SecondCopy provides a clean way of automating file backups to a destination drive. I use it to do a weekly Full Backup into one directory path, and the remaining days of the week go into their own directory paths for incremental backups. To recover a file I merely use File Explorer to access the most recent backed up copy and bring it back to its original location. No having to hunt within a backup catalog using a proprietary application.
