"Does the job with some nice features"

March 17, 2009

 |  Version: SWiSH Pix 1.5

Pros

Easy interface with simple template backgrounds and sound capabilites. It even allows you to record a little sound snippet (your voice to describe the picture perhaps) to add to the photo, if you'd like.

Cons

To create your own template (background) requires the use of two other software products from SWISH: SwishPixAC and SwishPixTC (these are supplied when purchasing the full version.) Unlocking the trial version seemed overly complex and tedious.

Summary

This product could go from good to great if the developers made a few changes as noted under "cons". Why not build the whole process of template creation into SwishPix? The current three-step process seems clumsy to me, as if the developers decided to stop short of a complete product. Even so, I bought the full version and will be using it for some of my web projects mainly as a primer for SwishMax2.

"Bug infested product that is severely limited in pro environment."

February 20, 2007  |  By photonpharmer

 |  Version: SWiSH Pix 1

Pros

Easy to install. Includes option to download free complementary products that are supposed to be designed to allow you to create custom themes for use in Swishpix.

Cons

1.) A small selection of themes with a universally cartoonish look which have

little practical use in building clean, professional, adult intended shows that

can be dropped into a business web site.

2.) To create a custom theme or to modify an existing show using this

application requires their Swishpix TC (Theme Creator) application which, when

employed to create a new theme or modify an existing one creates a file that,

when imported into the Swishpix application, promptly and reliably crashes the application resulting in a total loss of all work previously done. Pathetic.

3.) After a number of exchanges with support they have yet to actually solve

a single problem! They recommend downloading the latest version as the universal fix - the version I already have! Even their support call automated emails

contain links to files that do not exist because they are malformed to begin

with - just another example of poorly coded work!

4.) Several commands in the application simply do not function as expected.

Example: after importing images to use in a show using the command to rotate a

single image results in rotating all of the images.

5.) Appears that the company is content with selling a buggy product that is

only really useful to people who are satisfied with the meager selection of

default themes.

Don't even think about buying this program except for the most newbie, infantile level work. Save your money and look elsewhere if you have any thoughts about doing anything new and creative.

"Really helpful, SOOOO easy to use."

April 22, 2005  |  By Slap_Shot_12

 |  Version: SWiSH Pix 1

Pros

You'd have to be even dumber than I am to find this program difficult to use, and the final product is a really professional looking photo album.

Cons

A few more themes would really enhance the product. Even though you can make your own, it is a pretty big job to do so.

July 18, 2004

 |  Version: SWiSH Pix 1

Summary

"Wow! What an easy product to use!"

March 09, 2004

 |  Version: SWiSH Pix 1

Summary

I downloaded the product and had my first Flash picture album with comments, audio (music as well as my own voice) and callouts published. The program published HTML code for web posting - which worked the first time. It also allowed me to make an executable for a CD. After CD was burned, it launched flawlessly and played the flash file with high fidelity. Every family should own one. Even businesses can made product demos and have animated brochures. Price is just $29.99. Wow!
