CNET Editors' review
Iron is a free Web browser from SRWare. It's based on Google's Chromium core, which is the basis of many browsers, including Google's own Chrome. Like Chrome and the others, Iron is super-fast and accepts extensions, themes, and developer tools. What sets it apart is a lack of the Google-centric features that some have criticized for violating users' privacy, such as reporting your browsing habits and suggesting content (and advertising) based on the results.
Iron's start page offers quick Web and Image searching and a Quick Access section that let us upload pictures, access Chrome-compatible extensions and themes, rate our home page at a ratings site, view info about our IP address, and even watch funny videos at Epic Fail. Of course, we could customize the view, including the Quick Access links, using the usual Chrome-style options. We could import or export our bookmarks, create application shortcuts, and manage search engines, to name a few. We browsed to some Web sites, which loaded as fast as with other Chromium-based browsers, which is to say about as fast as browsers get nowadays. We saw no functionality issues that seemed to be due to Iron's breaking the umbilical cord to Google HQ, or any functionality issue at all, for that matter. The program installed conventionally and left user data behind in its program folder when we uninstalled it. That's not necessarily a bad thing since many users may prefer to delete such data securely.
Of course, not everyone looks at Google and sees the Borg, but if Chromium's built-in reporting and Web integration raise issues with you, resistance is not futile. You simply need some Iron in your online diet.
Publisher's Description
From SRWare:
SRWare Iron Portable is a browser based on the Soucecode of Chromium. Google's Web browser Chrome thrilled with an extremely fast site rendering, a sleek design and innovative features. But it also gets critic from data protection specialists, for reasons such as creating a unique user ID or the submission of entries to Google to generate suggestions. SRWare Iron is a real alternative. The browser is based on the Chromium-source and offers the same features as Chrome - but without the critical points that the privacy concern.

"Google Chrome Alternative w/o Privacy Concerns (MyFav)"
Version: SRWare Iron 13.0.800
Pros
* Fast & Responsive
* Compatible
* No privacy concerns
* Works when other browsers do not
* Free
* Updated regularly (as new Chromium code is released)
* Handles memory allocation well (runs multi-processes for tabs)
* Malware deterrent*Cons
* Wish favorites were handled differently
* Once in a while will not render a page correctly (and you have to use IE...but this is becoming more and more rare!)Summary
This is by far my favorite browser. As an IT professional, I want something that works and works well. SRWare Iron does just that without having to be concerned about privacy issues. When I worked for a public school system, this browser outperformed IE & Firefox on page loads when working with the Student Information System. Faster page loads means more productivity...and more productivity means more work in less time...something I really needed at that job (there wasn't enough time in a day to get it all done).
* Also, since it does not use ActiveX, it's not as subject to being hacked from malicious websites (much like Google Chrome). However, it still *could* be, but at least they are rather quick with updates. So, while it may not exactly "deter" viruses and malware, it does a rather noble job of warning you and helping (along with adequate anti-virus) prevent you, or maybe even your grandmother who keeps getting infected with IE, from getting infected.
Bottom line, it's an excellent fast browser that will get the job done effectively and efficiently. -

"Nice! Very nice!"
Version: SRWare Iron 13.0.800
Pros
Everything its just like Google Chrome 13 but no one is collecting everything I do! Awesome!
Cons
None very nice browser!
Summary
Well... I use to love Google Chrome but after the news on how people have been able to hack Google I do not feel my private information is on good hands any more. So until either Google stop collecting and snooping into my browsing, email, etc or they get better at protecting that information from hackers I don't think I will ever go back to them. Same goes for IE9 and Firefox junk quick release of half baked browsers with holes to patch. Until them I will stay faithful to Opera and Iron browser. Plus I love Ironman too! lol jk

"Ohhh Yeah.....This is a SWEET one!"
Version: SRWare Iron 13.0.800
Pros
Okay where do I begin....let see as private as Opera, looks clean like Chrome, run faster then Firefox and it safer and more secure than IE9 need I saw more?
Cons
None that I can even imagine!
Summary
Well after learning about Google and Firefox mining my personal information I do not like those two anymore. Use to be a fan of Firefox until they begun releasing junk and begun intruding upon my privacy like Chrome. I loved Chrome until they got hacked and again I learned they were invading my privacy. So now I got this baby and Opera both my favorite. I wish there was a 10 star rating for this chuck of heaven!
