From MAW Software Ltd. :SMS-it allows you to send a short message (SMS = Short Message Service) to a mobile phone, using your computer. SMS-it supports Picture messages, Caller Group Graphic, Operator Logo, Ringtones, Flash SMS and WAP. The messages can be sent through a modem, through an internet connection or directly through an attached mobile phone. If a mobile phone is attached to the computer (IE through the IR port), the contents of the inbox can be downloaded and stored in folders and the phonebook can be synchronized with SMS-it. The user interface supports English, German, French, Magyar, Swedish and Russian. With the new MS Outlook interface, it is now possible to send a SMS, triggered by an Outlook reminder.
Version 3.3.1 features support for Russian.

Version: SMS-it 3.3.1
Pros: Cool little utility that helps me to stay in touch with my friends.
I set up an account with Clickatell and now I am able to send three SMS for the price of one I used to pay when sending through my mobile phone provider SWISSCOM ;-)
It is also much more convenient, sending the SMS from the PC ... I am not too good with the tiny keypad of my T68 :-(
The user interface is simple, no complicated web interface with a lot of ads no one wants to read.

Cons: Setting up an account with Clickatell was a little hassle. But once I managed to register, I got 10 free credits to check them out... and it was worth it!
In any case follow the instructions on the MAW Web site... otherwise you are lost!

Version: SMS-it 3.3.1
"Look and Feel questionable, text messages did not arrive."
Cons: for one: The look and feel is not really what i would expect of a product to pay for.
furthermore it contains links to a gateway provider that does not exist anymore. finally the one offered does not support so called ported numbers. since about 3 years mobile subscribers in europe can take their mobile number to a other carrier. the gateway told me everything is fine, but the message never arrived....
from my opinion for simple texting what i was looking for i can not control the reliabilty and for chatting with my friends from which some changed their mobile supplier it does not work.
