  "Failed to install correctly"

  Pros: None.

  Cons: Doesn't work. Nothing but error messages. There appears to be 2 installs in the downloaded zip and it's not clear which one(s) to install. Obviously I installed both. I have a top spec PC so I consider this software to be crap. Just doesn't work. No info about spyware either.

  Version: SMS-TXT 1

  "Works well for me"

  Pros: I was sceptical when I saw a free SMS package, but I was pleasantly surprised with this one. I sent an SMS to a friend of mine in London, and it arrived in seconds. It's also genuine freeware

  Cons: The user interface looks quite old-fashioned.

  Version: SMS-TXT 1

  "Warning - charges recipient �£5"

  Cons: Users should be aware that the recipient is charged �£5 to receive the message. This is buried in confusing and erroneous terms on the website that refer to a 500p charge.

  There is no reference to this charge in the application.

  Additionally, the application does not install properly and throws XML errors on trying to send.
