This basic utility may save time when you're renaming file batches, but it's awkward to use and offers limited features. RenameFromList's crowded interface is something of an eyesore. We would've preferred quick drag-and-drop functionality or Windows shell integration instead of having to browse files from the unappealing main window. It also would have been nice to select an entire folder to rename all its files. The program can rename files individually or in batches, but it lacks features found in more developed utilities, such as the ability to add a prefix or suffix or otherwise modify filenames. RenameFromList lets you preview changes before they're made, but we were glad to find that the Undo feature proves effective in restoring files to their original names in case of a mistake. The program performed fairly well in our tests, but it lacks the extras that would make it a contender in the category and isn't the most user-friendly file renamer we've seen.

Side by side comparision available before renaming starts. You can edit new file name entries and change extensions before starting the renaming operation. Filter files by size, date and pattern and sort by name, date or size.
