Version: Rebel Decade 3.0
"You will love the Friday features, but more info is needed before the download."
Pros: I like the idea that Rebel Decade becomes the equivalent to Rebel 10 on Fridays. My understanding is that Rebel 10 is a top 10 chess engine; and if this fact is factual, I think that this is a very cool shareware idea! I just started to become interested in these chess programs/engines, so much so, I am beginning to collect them as one might collect stamps. If this Rebel Decade plays a tough enough game on Fridays, I could see myself purchasing the Rebel 10.
Cons: Well I do have a bit of an issue with this software Program. It won't run on my Windows XP. If I was told this before I downloaded it, I wouldn't of wasted an evening trying to figure out how to install this little #!'/*#!
"Sorry dudes, I can't make club Roxy's tonight. I know what day it is. I have something I've got to do. Well, if you must know, I have this chess engine to install and I need to check it out. No I have to do it tonight! Now get lost dudes! I'm busy!"
You see, it was 9:10pm and I just had to settle a question that was in my mind. I had to install this Rebel Decade 3.0 and run it to see if it would play like Rebel 10 between the hours of 9 to midnight my time, that is Pacific Time.
It's ok Window XPers; don't delete your Rebel Decade yet. I think I will figure it out and if I can find a way to contact you, I'll tell you what I did. I'm going to give it more then 1 star even though it killed my Friday night. I have an old computer with Windows 98 (it works great on the 95/98) and though I didn't use engines much in those days, it seemed to be a powerful engine. It actually beat me, but hey, only on Fridays. Again, I plan on using it with my XP rather than setting up my old NetVista; and as I said earlier, I'll try to let you know my results.
