Real-Draw Pro will look familiar to people who have used similar programs in the past. With suitable tools for creating digital drawings, Real-Draw Pro attempts to set itself apart from the pack with a few added options, but may be over the heads of novices.

This download looks more complex than Paintbrush, but less confusing than more professional programs like CorelDRAW. People familiar with either of those programs will instantly feel at home with Real-Draw, thanks to its traditional interface. The center of the screen is dominated by the drawing space, while the left side holds all the drawing tools, the right features the more complex controls professionals desire, and the middle offers fun options for creating textures and even 3D lighting. Drawing with Real-Draw Pro is both intuitive and slightly confusing. People will be pleased with the single, smooth step for selecting a tool from the left side menu and using a mouse to create the design. The menu along the right side will be a slight snag for novice users, since options like Bevel, Layer, and the program's confusing color chart seem intended for those with professional training.

Even though some of the options are confusing, creating art with Real-Draw was very simple and people should have no problem finding an immediate comfort zone. This 30-day trial offers a little something for everyone and makes a fine download.

"Might be turning me into a graphic artist."

January 13, 2011  |  By 5bombsnostars

 |  Version: Real-Draw Pro 5.2.3

Pros

As other reviews indicate, it has a large number of capabilities and effects which can be used for interesting images. I found it easy to use and inexpensive enough for me to buy without qualms.

Cons

I haven't really found any yet, but I may find some as I become more adept with it.

Summary

If I am an artist, I use it to commit art for 6-12 hours a day. If I'm not an artist I just spend that enjoyable time farting around on my computer. I actually do design images for use on some consumer products like t-shirts, baseball caps, bumper stickers, neckties, mouse pads, "political" buttons, etc. for Zazzle.com. (Look it up!) I've actually sold some of them (although I'm not quite sure why anyone does buy them) on three continents.

A great program. I get lost in it for hours at a time without realizing it. I've produced logos, geographic compilations, three website headers and just a bunch of crap that nobody but I will ever appreciate.

Buy it just for FUN!

"REALLY easy to use!! Loads fast! Only 57MB!!!"

December 28, 2009  |  By zeee3000

 |  Version: Real-Draw Pro 5.2.3

Pros

It's really easy to use. It's the first program of this kind that I could open up and immediately create drawings! Everything makes sense. It loads fast. Mediachance, the company that makes this has other great products. The price is unbeatable!

Cons

Their website: http://mediachance.com/ -- is a bit confusing. They kinda make it hard for you to buy stuff from them.

Summary

I'm certain Cnet reviewers were bribed to say this program is confusing. No way! It's the most common-sense program I've used. They also don't even bother telling you who makes it. Well, Mediachance does: http://mediachance.com/

Besides ease of use, it loads really fast. And, shoot, where can you easily convert Bitmap to Vector?!

Mediachance also has other great products. I LOVE their photo editing software: Photo-Brush!!! Super easy. Opens fast. Can use instantly. Also love their Dynamic Auto-Painter. It's great when you're not an artist & want to create art.

They've somehow managed to create these great interfaces.

I highly recommend all their products!! I LOVE them!

"Real Draw Pro is..."

November 24, 2009  |  By RR1K

 |  Version: Real-Draw Pro 5.2.3

Pros

Price, fractal designer, transparency and color models, bump mapping, selective light source creation, slews of presets, bevels, lens flare, many different output rendering choices, and too much more to list here. TRY the demo.

Cons

Could use better SVG import and export mechanisms, also could benefit from a better Adobe PSD export mechanism. Would also largely benefit from offering users an interface to design presets and fine tune existing ones like bevels and caustics.

Summary

For the price you will not get better and that's is a fact. I've been using Real Draw Pro since version 3.x starting back in 2003 and haven't looked back since. It's roughly $60 and as close to Adobe Illustrator as you're going to get for under $100 anywhere that I know of. My only gripe is that the .svg file management of RDPro could use a touch up so it would work better with other graphics tools like Ink Scape. Outside of about three complaints, you can really get a great deal done with this designer/editor. It has facilities for web design and image slicing as well as scripting tools for your sliced up images. The learning curve demands about 90 days for a fairly moderate skill level increase with the tool but, the results will be painfully evident.

"Doesn't run under W98SE"

September 11, 2009  |  By asur

 |  Version: Real-Draw Pro 5.2.3

Pros

No way to tell pros.

Cons

Installs but won't run.

Summary

Operating system compatibility should be updated. Mediachance's own website doesn't list W98.
