  Version: RPG Maker XP

  "If you like to play 'em, why not make 'em? Download RPG Maker XP today!"

  Pros: RPG Maker XP (also known as RMXP) has a very clean & easy-to-use interface. Unlike past RPG makers, this one supports RGSS (Ruby Game Scripting Language) which allows FULL customability over your game. This means you can add new features that seemed to be impossible in the past (ex. mouse-based games, character shadows, etc.). If you're not a fan of scripting, you can still create amazing games using events. Events itself are pretty powerful because with a few clicks of a button you can create timers, messages, control the weather; change the player's weapons, force a battle and about 85 others. Another thing I should note is the upgrade of graphics. RMXP supports .png graphics to be imported which allows transparency as well as variable transparency. The overall game screen has been nearly quadrupled to 640x480 pixels. I can't recommend this product highly enough. Download and then buy! =)

  Cons: Cons? Well, some features have been missing since the previous RPG Makers, but this can be easily fixed using RGSS.

  Version: RPG Maker XP

  "A great program, a few flaws"

  Pros: The program is layed out quite conveniently, with everything easy to access. It is simple to figure out, except for the script system, which was made to give the real programmers control.

  Cons: The only minor flaw is in the Actors tab in the database where part of the screen is cut off. This should not cause much of a problem, though, if you create your own battle system rather than use the defauly, because only battle details, such as armor, are inaccessible. Also, it has some minor issues in it's handling of music effects.

  Version: RPG Maker XP

  "Godlike - must have!"

  Pros: Very late but still welcome- the RPG-Maker XP is THE software for the making of own computer games.

  The maker is very simple and you don't need to have any programming knowledge. Feel free to create your OWN WORLD!

  And last but not least: There are already many communities in the web where you can get very good resources for you own game. So you don't need to use only the Run Time Package, which is a bit boring (but really big).

  Cons: If you know the RPG-Maker 2000 you'll see that some functions are missing in this version. But don't worry: With Ruby Games Scripting System you can do what you want!

  "Ablosultely fantastic Game Creation Tool."

  Pros: If I said this game creation software was brilliant, that would be the understatement of the millenium. Everything in the editor is fast, easy to use and powerful in its own way..... It's easy, but not entirely easy.

  Cons: No tutorial, however after an hour of experimentation you will easily find out how to work this beast.
