Publisher's Description
From R-tools Technology:
R-Studio is a comprehensive data recovery and undelete program renowned for its ability to recover mission-critical data lost to viruses, malicious attacks, and hardware failures or operating system crashes. It supports FAT/NTFS (Windows), HFS/HFS+ (Mac), UFS1/UFS2 & Ext2FS/3FS file systems and functions on local and network disks, even if partitions are formatted, damaged or deleted. New additional file recovery algorithm increases the quality of file recovery and recovers files not recognized in file system metadata. Dynamic disk and RAID are supported as well as recovering encrypted files, compressed files and alternative data streams. Files and file systems structures (NTFS/FAT boot sectors, MFT file record, MBR, LDM structures, etc) can be viewed and edited in the professional disk hex editor. Extended Viewer Plugin allows viewing a content of the found files to estimate recovery chances prior to purchasing. Flexible parameter settings give you absolute control over data recovery.

"Ok software, INSANELY HORRIBLE Customer Service"
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 5.4 build 134372
Pros
The software generally works OK, though it is sometimes hard to determine on the screens what data/files are important, and what are not important.
Cons
Customer service is definitely *not* important to them. "Screw the customer" is pretty important to them, though.
I purchased R-Studio to recover data from a bad drive. Then, a little over a year later, I needed to recover a totally dead system that didn't even boot up from a corrupted hard drive. I looked into a back-up image to get the R-Studio boot disk creator program to start my recovery. However, I didn't have the boot disk installer available on that image.
I called the R-Tools Customer Support to have them send me a link to the boot disk installer (which was part of the R-Studio package I had purchased). However, I was told by the R-Tools representative that my 1 year warranty had expired the month before, and that I needed to purchase R-Studio *AGAIN* to be able to get to the same software I had ALREADY PURCHASED! No negotiation.
So, I left R-Studio (cursing up a storm), and purchased Active@ File Recovery Pro. It's cheaper, quicker, and better.
Good riddance, R-Studio! -
"Poor sales support!"
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 5.3 build 133533
Pros
I can't really say, though the interface seem good.
Cons
I wasn't able to purchase the item. The phone number in the email was no longer service. They charged my credit card but never supplied the registration number. I had to call the cc company to cancel the charge. Chat-based support was flippant.
Summary
I'm going elsewhere.

"as the other software"
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 5.3 build 133533
Pros
...as the other software promised but the success of recovery was only on two files on 100, I've not find the solution, after PURCHASING this.
Cons
...seems better than the other but the result is not sufficent for money spent.
Summary
try anything else do not purchase this software
-
"Best recovery software."
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 5.3 build 133533
Pros
I have tried 15 others from this website and NONE worked. Mostly they didnt restore the complete folder structure, did not see some deleted folders entirely, and, in some cases, saw the folders and not the files and vice versa. R Studio just works.
Cons
Its not free. But its totally worth it! As an addition to the Pros, it's regularly updated, unlike most others out there.
Summary
Absolutely brilliant.
-
"Recovered all files from a reformatted HD."

Cons
None - it's too good
Summary
Great product!
-
"Excellent Product, great documentation-demo very useful"
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 5.3 build 132958
Pros
I recovered 99% of my data from an accidental Raid0 re-partition
Cons

Summary
Excellent program, prompt service.
-
"Horrible , Terrible , Simply the worst."
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 4.2
Pros
It was cheaper than the software I eventually had to buy because this software failed.
Cons
ILinux recovery is slow, and dose not work. It renames the files you are trying to find which makes recovery problematic in the best case, impossible in the worst.
Summary
Linux recovery does not work. Buy something else if you need linux files.
-
"Top notch!"
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 5.2 build 130701
Pros
Powerful, concise and full-featured data recovery software; easy to use and understand
Cons
Not a lot, really
Summary
I have personal experience with using this product in a professional setting, as well as others, and I can safely say that R-Studio blows the others out of the water, except for very specific data recovery programs.
-
"Not for the novice, even after reading manual."
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 5.2 build 130701
Pros
There is nothing to like, can't get it to work.
Cons
Could not even get it to work, a waste of $80, still trying to get tech help, who is getting very frustrated with me as I don't understand what he is trying to say to me.
Summary
Have not been able to get it up and working. Company refuses to refund my money.
Definitely not for someone with limited computer knowledge. -
"Found the lost data..."
Version: R-Studio Data Recovery 5.1 build 130041
Pros
found lost data where others would not
Cons
interface could be easier/more intuitive
Summary
When I lost my external hard drive, I downloaded quite a few programs in my attempt to recover it. All of the free ones could not find any data on the drive. Some of the pay ones could. I purchased R-Studio because it could recover the data and wasn't that expensive (one product wanted to charge by the MB, which would've cost $150 for only a small amount of data). Like I mentioned, the interface was not all that intuitive, and a little bit confusing, but I found the data I wanted to recover and it recovered about 50GB in a short amount of time. Part of the confusing interface had me recovering (I believe) deleted files, although I'm not sure how a 250GB internal drive and an 80GB external drive could generate 750GB of recovery files? Stopped after it had recovered the data I wanted and am so happy. I definitely recommend this program.
