After 10 years and with millions of users worldwide, Apple's QuickTime player still provides one of the best solutions for digital media. Whether you're watching streaming movie trailers online or diving headlong into QuickTime as a creation platform, you'll find little to quibble about in this veteran player. Its few quirks are quickly offset by the elegant Apple interface and the top-notch audio/video playback quality.QuickTime 7 comes in two varieties. The free standard player handles popular audio, graphic, and video formats, including the much-ballyhooed H.264 and MPEG-4. Also, for $29.95, you can upgrade to the content-creation-friendly Pro version, which adds features such as full-screen playback, easy editing, H.264/MPEG-4 production, and the ability to save movies from the Web. MPEG-2 support is available, but at an additional cost of $19.95.
High-definition content looks impressive with the new H.264 codec, but hardly better than with similar offerings from Microsoft. The stylish transport controls and the friendly layout work well. Inclusion of the autoupdate and automatic-network-detection features make getting started and staying current easy.
Overall, QuickTime 7 continues to be a must-have for anyone surfing the Web or looking to experience the best in digital media.

"a virtual spyware"
Pros: plays quicktime
Cons: so what? it installs itself in so many places with no apparent reasons. The quicktime format is a waste of time. Instead, just go for divx, xvid or MP4. Quicktime should go the way of the dinosaurs...

"Still have adware"
Summary: I don't like this player.
It fulls your computer with adware. I use QuickTime Alternative and RealPlayer to play .mov and .qt!

Version: QuickTime 6.5.2
"Slow, bulky, and outdated user interface."
Pros: Plays .mov files. Thats pretty much the only pro I can think of. Oh, it's not Windows Media Player.
Cons: Quicktime is in my opinion, too bulky for a video/audio player. It's defanitely not meant to play any audio, or view pictures. The buttons are huge and stupid looking, and there is no obvious file queue, as in Winamp and my personal favorite, BSPlayer. Installs Quicktime tray icon by default, which can slow down your system if you have a lot of background processes running. The tray icon doesn't really do anything useful except for providing easy access to the the preference to turn it off. I would recommend Winamp for audio, BSPlayer for non-quicktime video, and Quicktime Alternative (google it) for .mov files.

"Great, But Space Comsuming"
Pros: I loved the easy to understand layout of Quicktime. It was great for playing every type of media. From MP3's or MPEG's. Great in almost all areas...
Cons: The one and only thing that I didn't like was simple. I just can't see how a simple piece of software, can consume so much space! It was a HUGE file! That being the reason I had to get rid of it.

"Try Quicktime Alternative."
Summary: Quicktime is a resource hog, if it'll play it, quicktime altenative typically is quite a bit faster (it's played most stuff so far). Additionally, the interface is way outdated, the last version I installed had an unwanted iTUnes install, and it tried to attach itself to MPG movies for playback, which it promptly crashed on attempting to play. Additinally, it tries to attach itself to several movie an video files it has not clue how to run at all...

"DO NOT DOWNLOAD!!!!!"
Pros: None that I can think of.
Cons: We're all accustomed to the annoying window asking us to upgrade to Pro. No big deal. Version 7 now combines I-Tunes with Quicktime. That's just another annoyance. Installation is terrible. My biggest problem is that this installation caused irreparable damage to my Windows 2000 machine. After installing Quicktime 7, Windows would no longer load. I couldn't even load to Safe Mode. I had to reformat my entire machine. This program is worse than a virus. Do not download it unless you like reinstalling all of your software!!!

"it is good!"
Pros: it is good unless your one of those stupid people that does not know how to shut off the hot picks movie that is enabled by default when you install quicktime as well as the system tray icon that is also enabled by default during installation all you have to do is go into the preferences and click the browser plugin tab and uncheck the box that says install system tray icon and thats easy it plays most mpeg1 files pretty well on my computer unless you are using a computer that is too old to handle quicktime very well and go into player preferences to disable the quicktime hot picks movie that automatically loads on starting up quicktime... and it does support .avi files just not Divx Avi files only regular avi files! I mean come on people get educated about how quicktime works!
Cons: does not support Divx .AVI Files like I said it only supports regular .AVI Files. Get it?

"Piece of crap!!"
Pros: Only way to see EA sport game previews
Cons: All!!!
Spyware.
Anoying upgrade to Pro messages.
Intrusibe in your folders, space, registry, shortcuts.
If you delete from start-up it is autoinstalled again after the next run.
Now, Quicktime dont let you download just the player, you have to install also the iTunes installing a lot of crap on your computer.
I already spent 30 minutes looking for the previous version just to install the player.
Look for an alternative for .mov files
