"Revolutionary, not evolutionary"
Version: Progress Quest 6.1
Pros
A wide variety of races and professions, along with an astounding variety of items means near infinite replayability.
Cons
No sound or music
Summary
Progress quest strips away all the tedious grinding foumd in most RPGs while leaving the core experience intact. It's nearly perfect.

"Absolutely Peerless"
Version: Progress Quest 6.1
Pros
The amount of detail and depth that goes into creating a game world of such finesse and masterwork is unparalleled in any video game on the market. You will never find a better MMORPG, much less game, anywhere.
Cons
There's no option to mindlessly click on monsters. I miss that.
Summary
Progress Quest features realistic depictions of a free market economy, where you're going to have to have the most useless stuff (to you, anyway) in your satchel if you want to get anywhere in life. The more you sell, the more stuff you get, and the faster you can level up, whereupon leveling up, you get higher stats, more spells, potentially more quests, and most importantly, more respect.
If one so chooses to venture out into the great beyond known as "the killing fields," one finds a desolate wasteland, where adventurers toil for days on end, simply gathering more stuff to sell. However, Progress Quest gives you the chance to distinguish yourself from these other lowly adventurers by allowing you to customize your appearance, create almost entirely new classes, and sum up your entire family history with a single name. For example, I went with the slightly rarer "Talking Pony Robot Monk" combo, and so far, it seems as though my gamble has paid off. I may get some weird stares every now and then, and I can never seem to get my armor to fit just right, but if you're looking for a good combination, then read no further.
Read further, however, if you're interested in the meat-and-potatoes of Progress Quest: the plot. The plot initially starts off as something simple, like "Some mighty-generic-ancient-being is attacking the world/city/local pub. Please, save us!" But beyond that, you eventually get drawn into the world of Grumwij, and intricately intertwined with the fate of the entire world. Being an MMORPG means that typically, the story would suffer in lieu of gameplay. Here, the gameplay accents the story beautifully. While mindlessly slaying Somnambulist-Demon-Lords, you are poised on the edge of a philosophically mind-bending question. While running stacks of bricks across continents, you are challenged to think about the nature of existence: both of yourself, and the bricks. While haggling for a .5% discount on those molding cardboard greaves, you step away from the monitor, and contemplate the real-world implications of such a maneuver.
All of this is wrapped up in a free-to-play package, with thousands of other users just waiting to be interacted with. Gaming doesn't get much better than this. -
"Not what I expected...."
Version: Progress Quest 6.1
Pros
It's amusing.
Cons
Well.... you don't actually get to play it. It's just a spoof on RPG's in general, and there's no story. :( At all.

"Nice little text based program"
Version: Progress Quest 6.1
Pros
This is a simple text based program that runs itself.
You can minimize it and the character will level automatically. There are no graphics, just a page where your stats are shown and your progress- hence the name. It is basically a spoof of the MMORPG.
After 3 days my talking pony is level 37 ( that is what the program tells me anyway) and the character has just bought some new gear.
Nice.
I don't know how long people keep this on their computer, but I'll bet there are level 12462 out there somewhere.

"More fun for your time"
Version: Progress Quest 6.1
Pros
At first, it looks like a regular MMORPG; you give it time, it gives you progression. What sets it apart from other MMORPGs (Other than the humor, which is of course a nice touch), is that you don't WASTE time playing it. You play when you want, for however long you want, without wasting time on trivial activities. Definitely a five-stars.

"The next generation of MMORPGs is here and free"
Version: Progress Quest 6.1
Pros
Progress Quest is one of the most beautiful, imaginative and enjoyable games I have ever played. The amount of environments, enemies, character customization and overall things I can do staggers my mind every time I play. Me and my guildmates get together and take down big monsters (With really nice drops) on almost a weekly basis.
Balanced stat development, instanced dungeons (No ninjas here, people), group raiding, a ton of gear, the beautiful graphics, there is so much I can praise about Progress Quest and its superiority to every MMORPG on the market (And also the never-ending list of Final Fantasy games; what are they on now, Final Fantasy XXVI?), but I'll stop here. Go and download this RIGHT NOW!
Cons
The only thing I don't like about Progress Quest is the fact that I spend so much time playing it. If only there were some way I could do other things while playing Progress Quest... leave that for the next generation, I guess.

"Best MMORPG ever"
Version: Progress Quest 6.1
Pros
If you hate MMORPG grind, you'll absolutely love this game.
Cons
Graphics could be a little more polished, but it does the job.

"This game is fun and addicting, yet easy."
Version: Progress Quest 6.1
Pros
Huge, beautiful, seamless world; high streamlined and conducive to short or long play sessions; exciting, action-packed combat; elegant, easy-to-use interface; excellent music and sound. This game is crazily addicting. In short, this game is a must have. I consider it better than World of Warcraft.

"For those who find today's RPGs too grinding..."
Version: Progress Quest 6.1
Pros
As a regular RPG player, I've always found that the most boring part of the game is the mindless grinding of levels. Progress Quest automates this aspect, making the experience a lot more bearable. In fact, all of the possibly difficult/confusing things about RPGs have been fully automated. Automatic battles! Automatic spell casting! Automatic wealth accumulation! Automatic character movement! Automatic equipment selection and purchase! Automatic experience grinding! Automatic quest progression! Automatic controls! All you have to do is start the program and away you go!
Cons
Character creation is sadly not fully automated, so everytime I want to start a new game, I actually have to do something. Hopefully this can be fixed in a future release.

"Highly innovative with great graphics"
Version: Progress Quest 6.1
Pros
Progress Quest is really the next step in the evolution of MMORPGs. It basically cuts out all of the parts that are tedious or frustrating. I never feel stressed while playing this game. The graphics are also excellent-- there was never a time when I wasn't sure what was going on. It looks great even on my old computer. There are many races and classes to choose from as well.
Cons
You may feel that traditional MMORPGs are lacking once you have played Progress Quest.
