I recorded a session and went to hear my session and export to Garage band and it tells me "You cannot import a rights-protected AAC audio file."

What? I was recording my voice ... So I went to change the record preferences to make it a .m anything ... nope . No luck...

& I can't find any documentation whatsoever.

Keep your MONEY.

"a presenter's \"must have\""

I've used ProfCast from the first release and despite some childhood illnesses, it was great then--but it's superb now. I'm a prof myself, and after surveying my students (lecture, one-to-many, course) they agree that the ProfCast output is perfect for them.

I used to offer stand-alone audio podcasts, streamed podcasts, and lecture slides. Students still use the slides, of course, to follow the lecture in real time, but the audio-only podcasts get no traffic. Slides synched with audio makes exam prep and studying in general a snap.

My only problem is that with the ProfCast podcasts, class attendance has dropped like a rock (I don't take roll). They are now time-shifting to meet their own schedules. That's good, but I do get lonely.

Oh--one other thing, some advice. It's very tempting to try a Bluetooth headset for the input, as it's not intrusive, but if you wander more than 5' from your Mac, Bluetooth fails. Yeah, the BT standard claims 30', but that's pure BS. It would sure be nice if we could develop a knowledge base wrt the best ways to mike oneself for this. Currently I'm using an old Sony RF wireless mike system (pre-BT) and running it through a Griffin iMic to get the line-level up, but that feels like a kludge. No critique of ProfCast on this, just and FYI.

"v1.2 vastly superior to v1"

The main trouble I had with v1 was that I could not tweak the poscast. With the export to Garageband feature, all is well and life is good again.

The three mini-lectures I have generated with it were painless to produce and then edit with GarageBand.

The publishing feature is seamless for iWeb, raw publishing, and export to Garageband.

Highly recommended for anyone who produces lectureCasts. I simply couldn't be happier with it; except for the regular cost.

My only complaint is the cost. It is a great piece of kit and greatly simplifies the process of generating lecturecasts, but I can do the same thing in GarageBand evenif it takes me a great deal more time.

43CAD is pretty steep for this little thing. But I just bought it given the Apple Sale for 12CAD. I really hope that everyone who can use this will buy it at that price and the regular price might come down.

I want this thing to be around for a while and improve. I want to encourage a sustainable price.
