The default transition is the best one available in the program. Really easy to import with no size limits.
Cons
1- should have a built in sound editor.
2- needs a tracking type system for panning photos or, at least, a third pane.Summary

Pros
Tool is easy to get adequate with and produce a show people admire and entertains them. It is also feature rich and when you get really good with it, can produce a very sophisticated show.
Cons
In order to get the most out of this product you have to buy additional instruction DVD's or manual. These are very well done, but a little pricey. Resource hog and locks up occassionaly.

"Terrible for use under vista"

Worked well under xp--loved the output and was very pleased.
Cons
Will not work with vista drivers. Spent a few hours on the phone with them and all I received was a lot of back door fixes.. They informed me that they were working on the drivers but five months have gone by and I still can not burn dvds.

Make sure it works on newer computers with vista...other wise a complete waste of money

Can create professional-looking slide shows with relative ease. I compare it to Microsoft Excel in that you can do a lot with minimal skill level...but can delve much deeper is you choose. Can insert video clips. Easily apply random motion affects.
Cons
Having problems burning DVDs on my new HP laptop, but not sure if the compatibility is the fault of Photodex or HP.
Summary
I have used ProShow Gold for 5 or 6 years and love it. I've created slide shows for family, friends, acquaintances and a summer college-aged baseball team and always get great feedback. People try to give me a lot more credit than I deserve not realizing how easy PSG is to use.

Easily drag and drop photos and videos into the show. Built in audio editor to trim songs and you can rip songs to use in the show. Easily change timings and transitions. Great pan and zoom motion controls. Nice variety of output features.

Pros
Making slideshows has never been so much fun, and, with the level of control ProShow gives you, you can blow your audience away. This is the one pro photographers use for weddings, etc., and it shows. Excellent.
Cons
I'd be nitpicking.
Summary
This is top-shelf software, near pro-grade at a consumer-grade price.
To clarify, ProShow is Photodex's consumer product and Producer is their professional product, but my previous comments still hold.
