Its wide range of formats and functions help PowerArchiver compete in a category dominated by WinZip. The archive utility supports a large number of compression formats, including the new 7-Zip format, which offers extremely high compression ratios. You also can encrypt your archives using one of five secure algorithms. The program works swiftly and reliably. The configuration menu lets you customize almost every feature, including a password manager for encrypted archives, a self-extracting wizard, and an autobackup tool. The batch ZIP tool compresses hundreds of files in one shot, and the multi-extract tool unpacks hundreds of archives at once. The program now supports unlimited-size ZIP archives. Anyone who needs to work with archive files will find PowerArchiver a versatile, affordable alternative.

Formerly EasyZip 2000, this archiving tool features support for ZIP, CAB, LHA (LZH), TAR (+TAR.GZ, +TAR.BZ2), and BH (BlakHole) formats. The program features complete integration with Windows, including new Office 2002-style toolbars, forms, and buttons. It also allows you to drag and drop to and from Windows Explorer, and extract archives and ZIP files directly from Windows Explorer. You can rename files in an archive, create archives spanning multiple disks, view and write comments, run a virus check from within an archive, and test and password-protect archives. There is a tool for extracting multiple archives and an internal viewer for GIF files. Version 8.0 features unlimited ZIP size support; support for Deflate64; RAR v3 support; and much more.
