Power Audio Cutter is a simple program that allows users to cut audio tracks and convert them to other file formats. It's not the most intuitive program we've ever used, but once we figured it out, we found it to be pretty straightforward.
The program's interface is plain, with all its features organized on a single screen. Although each component makes sense alone--we could select a file to work with, choose a destination location for the output, and so-on--it was not entirely clear how we were to go about cutting the file. A visit to the built-in Help file (brief, but containing instructions nonetheless) cleared things up. Users simply drag a slider that represents the length of the track to the appropriate places for it to begin and end, and then a click marker button. Alternately, users can enter the start and stop times manually in seconds. Users then select the desired file type for the output, choose the bit rate, sample rate, and channels, and click Cut. The program quickly cuts the track at the desired places and converts it to the new file type, if a different one was chosen. Overall, we thought that Power Audio Cutter worked well, but we do wish the interface was a little more intuitive. There's no reason for it to be as vague as it is.
Power Audio Cutter has a 15-use trial. The program installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend this program to all users.

-Downloaded an audio decoder, called ffdshow, without my approval/clearly informing me that it'd be doing so.
-AAC version of an audio track I created from an mp3 version didn't play in iTunes. Tried again, but converted to mp3 this time and it worked properly.
-You need to enter start/end times in seconds rather than minutes and seconds. (Can you add/multiply in increments of 60? That's all that will be inconvenient about this.)Summary
I wanted to trim an audio book reading in a foreign language for study purposes and it did so after the second try. Entering trim times in seconds isn't too bad if you can do basic math. My clip started at 0:00 and I wanted to clip it at 3:13:66. So, I had to input "193.66" instead of "3:13:66". I did the math in my head in less than 5 seconds. It's just a small hassle for the user, but it was free for me as long as I needed it.

Haven't run it to find any.

Downloading and installing and this program triggered an alert from Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro; running it caused Avast Free Antivirus to 'Sandbox' it.
As I've no reason to distrust either of these protective programs I've chosen not to go further and to uninstall the program immediately.Summary
Maybe okay, as I feel CNet is a reliable site but two alerts from two different programs is enough to stop me proceeding further. I'll keep looking for what I need.

Tried to split an MP3 file while following all their instructions, but when I ran the split operation, the software indicated that it was working on it, but after two trials, I always got a DLL error and a empty resulting MP3 file.
