Editors' reviewThis Space Invaders knockoff seems unlikely to win any design accolades, but its feature set and humorous concept help give it a boost. In Political Invaders, you don't blow away little green men; instead, you blast political figures you don't care for. Republicans can open fire on former First Lady Hillary Clinton and muckraker Michael Moore, while Democrats can take aim at George W. Bush and Newt Gingrich. This program's graphics and sound effects aren't particularly impressive, although the background shot of the Capitol and the headshots of the politicians are of decent quality. For a free game, we were surprised to find as many features as we did. For example, you can select from a few difficulty levels, enable cheats, play in window mode, disable the audio, and change the speed of your weapon. In short, the game breaks no new ground, but gamers with strong political leanings are likely to have some fun with it.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to plaster as many politicians and their henchmen with pies as you can. The politicians, who don't really like getting blasted in the face with a pie, will drop bombs on you. The bombs will do you great bodily harm, so you would be wise to avoid them. The game plays similarly to Space Invaders but with this fun and unique twist. Version 1.5 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.
