Although this free Net phone's feature set appears to be up to par, its nonintuitive design and questionable performance prevent it from trumping its more capable competitors. Upon launching PicoPhone, many users may find themselves baffled as to where to begin, because the program doesn't automatically prompt you to register and lacks built-in help files. To create an account, you'll need to visit the developer's site, select a username and password, then connect to the server via the Preferences icon. Before we figured this out, we received periodic error pop-ups with vague, unhelpful messages. Once we finally began placing calls to other PicoPhone users, we weren't impressed with the muddy sound quality, although we were pleased with the feature set. The utility boasts its own basic chat client, supports conference calling, and lets you adjust your microphone and speaker volume via two prominently displayed sliders. Although this free program has potential, it needs some work before we can give it our kudos.Publisher's description

Design is fairly intuitive too, shame download .com don't provide a link to the Username registration page instead of telling you that this miniscule marvel is unhelpfull xxx.vitez.it/picophone/picoserver.html (replace the x's with w's VOILA!

Pros: I am using picophone 1.64 within the organisation and it works fantastic.Now the only problem is when i am trying it outside through internet i cannot connect i am getting the message No response from the remote pico phone.Please help .If anybody has the same problem please help me. I also tried to call from my office to my friend but the call in not coming .Your prompt action is highly appreciated

"By far the best Voice over IP phone"
Pros: It is small quiet works extreamly well and is free.
You no longer have to register if you have a dynamic IP address. Just eneter a screen name and password and the first time you make a call it sets it up automatically.
