CNET Editors' review
If you do any kind of digital art or design, we can't think of a reason you wouldn't want to have PicPick as your sidekick. This handy set of tools can handle many small yet important design-related tasks without the hassle of opening a full-blown design program.
PicPick has an attractive, no-nonsense interface that lists all of its features up front. And what a list it is; PicPick's capabilities include a variety of screen capture options, a color picker, a color palette, a magnifier, a pixel ruler, a crosshair, a protractor, and a whiteboard. The program also comes with a basic image editor that can handle tasks such as cropping, resizing, and rotating, as well as a applying a handful of special effects. PicPick's features aren't especially unique, but the fact that they're all bundled together in such a sleek, easy-to-access package makes this program a must-have. We were especially fond of the whiteboard feature, which lets users draw, marker-style, on their existing desktop or on a blank canvas. The options for screen captures are also impressive; users can select full-screen captures, particular windows or regions, fixed regions, freehand areas, and even scrolling windows. The program comes with an online Help file, but most users probably won't need to consult it, as the program's tools are all quite straightforward. Overall, we were impressed PicPick's usefulness and attractiveness, and we recommend it highly.
PicPick installs and uninstalls without issues.

"Smoothest screen capture util around of current batch"
Version: PicPick 2.3.3
Pros
Works as described. Allows quick capture and crop before saving.
Cons
Could be simpler. Too many unnecessary features, perhaps. It fails as a general editor, so why try to add too much?
Summary
When a vendor wanted screen shots of our current application and other items, I needed a quick way of providing them other than the built-in Windows feature. A review of screen capture utilities led me to this program. It was the best out of the four or five I tried.

"A must have!"
Version: PicPick 2.3.3
Pros
It is easy, fast, light and it delivers.
Cons
I would take away the start with Windows option, but it is manageable. The pixel ruler needs a little bit of work to make more user friendly.
Summary
The only thing I can say is that if you need to design a website or work with images and edit them, this is the ticket.

"Great, simple and customizable."
Version: PicPick 2.3.3
Pros
Small file, free, and very easy to use. You can also add arrows, boxes and emphasize points of your picture. For posting parts of manuals and screenshots, I'd have to say that this is a very important tool, and very easy to use.
Cons
It takes a while to learn how to capture different ways (with Control, Shift + combinations).
Summary
A productivity tool that I cannot do without. If you ever print a screen and try to adjust it, stop it and get this product.
By itself, it's cumbersome to remember the different combinations for choosing just a screen, a window, a certain part, or by "drawing" your own box. To counter that, I got a Logitech MX518 and created key combinations so I can launch PicPick at the touch of a button, and have an image captured and saved within seconds. To do this, I had to modify the key combinations (which PicPick was nice enough to allow you to do) and then match those combinations with the mouse software. If you need to capture lots of screen shots, this is a great software to do that. Click, add boxes and arrows, save and you're done. What used to take me 3-5 minutes I can now do in under a minute.
I have recommended this product several times, and is a fantastic productivity booster. -
"Great little product that does what it says."
Version: PicPick 2.3.3
Pros
Screen capture, window pane capture, selectable region capture (via customizable buttons); ability to draw circles, arrows, boxes, add text, etc. to the capture. Can automatically assign a tentative file name and save in PNG, JPG, and other formats.
Cons
Updates too often (will check for update on startup). Always, asks to install the ask.com toolbar - and it appears to be required for setup (it's not).
Summary
A nice little tool that works as advertised, with a few minor annoyances that are easily avoided, or have simple work-arounds. Highly recommended.

"Free, Fast & Fabulous."
Version: PicPick 2.3.3
Pros
Creating a screenshot of a menu, or whatever is going on on your screen, is a breeze. The built-in editor is great, not sophisticated but with plenty of tools to get by an do simple and fast tasks with a great end result.
Cons
Warning: Installation of PicPick comes with a Ask.com installation dialog during installation procedure. Don't want anything from Ask.com installed? (Who does?) Than be sure not to click on 'Next' too early...
Summary
The PicPick editor comes with the so called Ribbon Interface. I love the Ribbon Interface and I'm glad the latest versions of PicPick has it now. It also uses tabs for dealing with multiple screenshots. I also love using tabs. :-)
Options dialog of PicPick comes with plenty of stuff to set PicPick up to your needs. For me, I needed to adjust some of the the default keyboard shortcuts to avoid PicPick's color chooser from popping up whenever I play a certain game that uses the same shortcut.
The graphic's editor is a breeze to use. It's nothing like a real professional editor, it's meant to be simple, straightforward and fast and it delivers in all those area's.
You can 'send' a taken screenshot to other installed programs on your PC (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint or a program of your own choosing).
You can also share your pictures to different (on-line) media (ImageShack, Facebook, Twitter, FTP server and Outlook), immediately via PicPick.
And, of course, you can choose to take a screenshot from the whole screen, part of the screen, part of a Window, etc., etc.
To sum it up: I'm a huge fan of PicPick. :-)
