CNET editors' review

Add another name to the roster of feature-rich freeware image editors: PhotoScape. Although it eats and leaks about as much memory as Firefox, this editor is perfect for those making the jump between JPEG and am-pro dSLR work.
It supports RAW, as well as all other major image formats from JPEG and PNG to animated GIFs. It comes with prebuilt templates for users to create photo collages, fumetti, and Web comics, and has a standard set of red-eye removal, light/shadow, and contrast-editing features. One warning about the RAW processing: although it looks like you can drag and drop, the converter doesn't change RAW to JPEG unless you load the RAW file from within the native file navigator. It's a minor bug, but one that can lead you to believe that there's no RAW support at all. You can also batch edit images, combine them, and print them out one at a time or several at once.
The program loads fast and possesses an interface completely different from those familiar with Adobe's industry-leading tools. Users are greeted by circular navigator complemented by a tabbed nav on the top of the main screen. Most but not all main features are accessible from either nav. It might take some people time to get used to the unusual layout, but it's only unusual for an image editor; otherwise it's intuitive, fast, and lacks only the most advanced of image editing features.

Version: PhotoScape 3
"FANTASTIC w/ lots of extra tools!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Pros: Picasa n Faststone has nothing on Photoscape! If you have problems w/ photos showing up in the wrong folders & some (jpg, gif, etc) not showing up at all , worry no more! No problem viewing ALL files & formats. Print photos in so many diferent collage-styles, frames, filter, backlighting & effects (clear skin, mole remover also) Opacity in text, good for watermarking photos! The easiest animator I've come across, just drag & drop files to manage or edit! In editing, object..cute clip art images & more effects!!
Cons: a selection tool would be nice (hint) :)

Version: PhotoScape 3
Pros: Viewer, browser, editor and tools all in one UI that is intuitive and easy to understand and access. No clicking to-and-fro.
It has more tools than other software of its kind.
Cons: Incomplete help. With the myriads of tools, there is no explanation of what they do and how to use them.
The video help is great but is limited. The display window is too small and partly obscured. Also it runs too fast, with no option to change the speed.

Version: PhotoScape 3
Pros: I really like this. It is pretty with bright colors and has a lot of great features. It's easy to understand; not complicated. One feature is I can combine 2, 3, 4 pictures. It goes horizontal and vertical.

"Expected a photo browser, got much more"
Pros: Was looking for a free photo browser and ran into this product. The product exceeded my expactations, the browser even show the camera's setting when the picture was taken - cool.
Cons: I had to download the program twice. first time it didn't download the whole file and it was corrupted (almost given up on downloading again).
