The basic but free Phatboy ImageSlicer simply splits large image files into smaller pieces. To chop up a large image, you just select it, specify the output folder, and choose the tile size. Since the program won't let you abort an image slice once it has started, we'd suggest first using the preview window to make sure all is well. The interface won't confuse even newbies, since it's not overburdened with icons or menu items. However, when we tried to maximize the rather small window, it stayed the same size but turned the rest of our screen into white space, obscuring the close icon and forcing us to disable the app via the Task Manager. Though clearly not intended for average users, graphic designers or those who regularly work with sprite sheets will find Phatboy ImageSlicer handy.Publisher's description
From Phatboy Games :It slices, it dices, it cuts things into squares. If you have ever found a good sprite sheet on the Internet and spent hours cutting out each image, Phatboy Games has a solution for you. All you do is simply open the sprite sheet, decide the size of the tiles, and press go--it's that simple. You can even preview the tiles before saving to make sure you have the right size.

Version: Phatboy ImageSlicer 1.0
Pros: It does what it says but you won't always end up with good results. Sometimes the sprite on the sheet will be halved cut. It will be missing say a hand or a leg. It doesn't cut around the figure of the sprite. It's only programmed to cut by tiles.

Version: Phatboy ImageSlicer 1.0
"Easy to use, when it gets the pieces right..."
Pros: Simple to use and free, but...
Cons: The size of the pieces it shows in the preview neither correlates to the dimensions entered by the user nor to the actual piece size. If a picture is not divided evenly by dimensions, the final pieces either end up getting cut incorrectly or with white space filling in the empty regions (as opposed to make that piece smaller). Also, it is not good for those who do not know how to incorporate HTML to repiece the image together (as other reviews here ahve shown).

Version: Phatboy ImageSlicer 1.0
Summary: 1) When you slice the image, it saves it to a folder but how do you view the complete image? You can only view parts of it.
2)It saves the sliced images as BMP files! A 60k jpg file will end up as a 1.4 MB BMP file. Completely useless. -

"takes forever to tile a 132 x 154 jpg"
Summary: tried it. it takes forever on a w2k machine. when i close the software it puts some bmp of it's interface together with the picture you're trying to tile. Not worth the download.
