Maintaining proper disk hygiene is like going to the dentist: You do it because you have to, but it's rarely easy and almost never pleasant. PerfectDisk is a friendly alternative that picks up where Windows' Disk Defragmenter leaves off, adding powerful features, an attractive interface, and a top-notch help file with clear instructions and definitions.
In addition to the standard defragmentation process, it offers a SmartPlacement option, which analyzes usage patterns and organizes data to minimize future fragmentation. Another useful option is offline defragmentation, which optimizes parts of the drive, such as the Master File Table and the page file, that can't be modified while Windows is running. On your next bootup, PerfectDisk takes over, optimizes the selected files, and lets Windows proceed with start-up. The interface features big buttons, bold but complimentary colors, and is short on drawbacks.
The program also offers statistical analysis, scheduled maintenance, and the ability to defragment remote computers running another copy of PerfectDisk. That last feature is perfect for IT staffers, but we recommend the app to home users, too. At its price, PerfectDisk isn't a bargain--but getting this close to perfect doesn't come cheap.

Version: PerfectDisk 8
"Perfect Disk 8 about as perfect as it gets"
Pros: I had been using PD version 5. PD 8 is faster and is lighter on the system when running than the prior version. Boot time defrag also useful on system files. Best feature is that it logically orders files and works to maximize contiguous free space, reducing future fragmentation. Another good feature is that it does the work in far fewer passes than other software, usually one or two will eliminate all fragmentation and order the files. An ongoing performance improvement analysis is a nice touch. Tech support was very prompt and courteous when I wanted to upgrade across a couple of versions. Well recommended.
Cons: The user interface on version 5 was a little clearer than this one. This is a little more GUI-centric and seems more cluttered. But it's not the interface, it's the performance that matters - so this is more of my issue being a user of multiple versions rather than being an out-and-out drawback, per se.

Version: PerfectDisk 8
"The best defragmenter I have used"
Pros: Very fast and simple to use with a straightforward interface. Having been a Diskeeper user for some years, I moved away from Diskeeper 2007 because I don't like the complicated new interface and the extent to which it now works unattended under the covers. I am sure Diskeeper means well but like many system optimizers it is too intrusive. I hope that Perfect Disk never strays too far in this direction. I just want a thorough and fast defragmenter which operates when I ask it to. PerfectDisk 8 provides this.
Cons: None.

Version: PerfectDisk 8
Pros: I heard great things about this product. On the plus side it does look professional.
Cons: I installed this program on two computers at home. Both are now markedly slowly. I had just formattd and reinstalled everything on my desktop PC so I ran this program to keep things running smoothly. It crashed all the time and ran very slowly.
Avoid this product unless you want to cause problems.

"Worse Defragmenter Software !"
Cons: 1:This software is full of rubbish.
2:its anaylze and defragment of the hard disk take a long time(more than 1 hour)which is worse than Windows Built-In defragmenter.
3:after using this software to defragment, your computer speed is much more slower.
4:It leave a error screen after the Windows XP loading screen staing Autochk.exe program not found after you uninstall this piece of Sh¬t.
Use Diskeeper 10 Defragmentaion software wihch is the best !

Version: PerfectDisk 8
Cons: I used the trial version of perfectdisk 8 on my Dell latitude D800 notebook. It had about 15% free space on a 80GB drive and many of the files on my computer are larger movie files (350-700mb files). To start with, it took over a day to complete one defrag run and still left numerous files fragmented (where there clearly was room to do a better job). Therefore I ran it several other times trying to improve the continuity of my files. All in all, I think I was able to get about 5 passes in the trial period. Now here's the tricky part. I'm not a computer expert so I can't tell you for sure what is wrong with my computer after Perfectdisk 8. All I know is that it can barely perform routine tasks because all of the CPU is being used up by taskmanager and, oddly, system idle process. I can't watch movies anymore, let alone use programs like Excel. Since I left my computer alone while it was running the program (i.e. what's the point in putting new stuff on the hard drive while you are defraging it?), I'm left to conclude that it was Perfectdisk that is the culprit. I did run several virus and spyware detectors, just in case, but those all came out clean. At this point I've bought an external drive and I'm planning to download my files to it and wipe my hard drive. I haven't tried any non-Windows defrag programs, but at this point I would recommend any over Perfectdisk!
