CNET Editors' review
Despite the size of its download, PentaZip has a simple mission: to compress multiple files into archives. At first launch, the software asks you whether to associate all the ZIP files on your computer with the application or to create a new ZIP archive. The more-or-less standard interface offers the basic buttons and features. What is innovative is that you do not need to browse manually through each folder. Instead, you select files from PC folders and drop them into a new archive. The program also lets you create self-extracting EXE archives, schedule operations, and open and convert a variety of archive file formats. For power users especially, the welcoming interface and easy-to-understand features will make PentaZip worth the big download.Publisher's Description

"Didn't work for me."
Version: PentaZip 7.0
Pros
I don't know why, but the program did not work. Some of these programs say they are for Windows 98, but when you download them, they tell you for Windows NT only.

"Exactly what I needed"
Version: PentaZip 7.0
Summary
Yes, it's a large download. And it uses lots of CPU when using a hight compression rate. But it is the only tool I found that can effectively create compressed files in Unix format.
If you need to transfer large files to Unix, PentaZIP does the job.
