Publisher's description of Pegasus Mail
From David Harris:Pegasus Mail is a free, standards-based electronic mail client suitable for use by single or multiple users on single computers or on local area networks. It has special support for Novell NetWare LANs that allow it to operate intuitively and with almost no maintenance. Pegasus Mail gives you multiple viewing options; automated rule-based filtering and content control; MailMerge and distribution list functions; support for SMTP, POP3, IMAP4, LDAP, and PH protocols; comprehensive HTML mail generation; address books with aliasing functions; and even a spelling checker.

- Version reviewed: Pegasus Mail 4.41
If you're looking for a client that will handle all your email needs, Pegasus Mail should move to the top of your download list. It won't do back flips or sing the national anthem at ball games, but you won't mind after using this program a few days of acclimination.
The interface design is similar to that of other email clients, with three primary panes: one for your mailbox directory tree, another listing the subject lines of messages, and a third "preview" pane displaying the content of the selected message. Pegasus Mail's toolbar includes a few more buttons than typical email clients, which may cause slight initial confusion for novice users. The help feature is thorough, so any level user should be able to quickly solve any difficulties. Pegasus Mail has robust mail merge and mail management features that power users will immediately appreciate; novices will find an extensive explanation in the help guide. It also is designed to work with a Novell Network LAN, making it a good choice for work as well as home use.
The program performed reliably and impressively in all our tests, including sorting, configuring and using filters. We have no reservations in recommending this remarkable free email client to any and all users.

Version: Pegasus Mail 4.41
Pros: I like the look and features and can configure and receive Fastmail accounts. If Pegasus ever offers the ability to receive other mail accounts, I'd probably uninstall Thunderbird.
Cons: I don't have to read a manual to figure out Thunderbird account setups. Plus, I can configure my AOL, Hotmail, and Yahoo accounts with Thunderbird. And I just don't find it easy to navigate this program.

"Full-featured, free & fantastic"
Pros: PMail offers many features in a surprisingly free product.
Built-in spam filter
Powerful message filtering
Multiple identities/accounts
Embodies 'function' over 'fancy'
Developed in New Zealand!Cons: I've been using Pmail for 15 years and I can only think of one slight 'con'.
Spam/junk filtering doesn't learn quite as quickly as I'd like.Summary: I love Pegasus. I has the advantages of not being Microsoft, not creating bloated messages as per the crappy Incredimail, and being easy to configure relevant to each user's needs and technical competency i.e. a power user will be able to make it ju... read more >>

"have used for years and it does all I need"
Pros: basic functions easy to use
Cons: gets a little bogged on large files
Summary: this is a reinstall after a major meltdown but I didn't feel a need to investigate other options, I've been happy with it for 5 years
