Publisher's description
From David Harris :Pegasus Mail is a free, standards-based electronic mail client suitable for use by single or multiple users on single computers or on local area networks. It has special support for Novell NetWare LANs that allow it to operate intuitively and with almost no maintenance. Pegasus Mail gives you multiple viewing options; automated rule-based filtering and content control; MailMerge and distribution list functions; support for SMTP, POP3, IMAP4, LDAP, and PH protocols; comprehensive HTML mail generation; address books with aliasing functions; and even a spelling checker.
This update provides many new features, including an XP-style interface and support for SSL.

Version: Pegasus Mail 4.12a
Pros: More features than most e-mail clients costing $30, $40 and more. Templates, customization, rule filtering, spam filtering, etc. etc. Very stable, fast and reliable. For those who complain because they do not know what to do with all the features: Get something else like Foxmail or Thunderbird. They are easier to use and free, too.
Cons: Takes some getting used to and is not meant for e-mail users getting/ sending one or two mails per day. It's more aimed towards professional use.

Version: Pegasus Mail 4.12a
Pros: It was my most favorite email client for a very long time. And all good has been already written about it.
Cons: You can not read foreign emails properly. Missing additional encoding. That's why I uninstalled it and apparently no further version will be available. What a pity.

Version: Pegasus Mail 4.12a
Pros: Its sheer power and flexibility is unmatched. Its got so many options its mind boggling to think that this is a freeware product. The address book is quite handy, while the filtering rules are quite a handful. And the best thing about the product is that its stable and functional. Never in my usage have I seen a bug in it.
Cons: The interface is a bit of an overkill. It may be too complex for the new user, and even for experienced ones it takes time to get used to.

"The most powerful email client in existence"
Summary: Since is quite a widely used program(5 millionish users) I thought it deserved a more thorough review than the cursory and quarter-assed glance CNET gave it. It had little to no discussion of Pegasus mail's features or flaws. Yes, the mail folders h... read more >>

Version: Pegasus Mail 4.12a
"Good choice for power users, IMAP and customer service"
Pros: Much the most powerful of the free email clients, and the best choice for power users handling large volumes of mail.
For inexperienced or low-volume users something simpler such as Thunderbird would probably suit you better.
One of the few clients at any price that handles IMAP well. And the only client I can find that combines strong IMAP with strong, programmable message templating. This makes it a good option for customer service and support work.
Cons: As others have pointed out, you can't drag attachments out of a message - you have to save them via a file dialog.
