Neither the basic password tools nor the overall packaging will impress those testing this suite. The amateurish interfaces don't live up to the "Pro" in PasswordsPro's title. You don't install this program, just save the set of files that come in the program's zipped folder and open the executable to use the set of tools.
The main interface is nothing more than a two-item File menu and a big empty window. The six item Tools menu includes a password generator, recovery tool, and storage database. Each option opens a new window, but they all share the same drab, outdated look. While each tool does what it promises, they only offer the basics. For example, the Password Keeper just stores username, password, and address. You can't tab through fields, open sites or automatically enter your login information while online. Those with many passwords will find entering their information tedious.
Not that they should bother spending the time. This isn't a secure app. For an app designed to hold passwords, there is no program-password protection. It has a hidden mode, with a hot key combination to bring it back, but there's no way to set your own hot key. The program's folder and its files are clearly visible, and it still shows up in Task Manager.
Although this program is only a couple of years old, its features and functionality have been surpassed. The publisher's Web site indicates that a newer version is available. If you like the range of tools PasswordPro promises, you might want to bypass this older model. We were left completely unimpressed, and didn't get close to reaching the demo's 20-use limit.
